The Real Housewives of Orange County

Imagine Nicole had of stuck around? I truly think we would have had a hit season with her.

Emily had a great season but she and Gina have overstayed their welcome in my opinion.

Having binged the season just in time to catch the finale I have to agree with the current takes. After such a strong trip the women kind of fumbled the reunion, but I don't even know if that's on them?

Noella had one of the best first seasons ever and I think this was probably Emily's strongest season yet as well. There are the bones of a great cast here, they just need another heavy hitter (Tamra) and someone who excels as a secondary player who can step up when needed (Meghan). Heather isn't the protagonist and the times when her cartoonish villainy ballooned to the point of overwhelming the edit were the best episodes of the season.

I think there was a desire to see OC back at the top of its game after Season 15 but that was never going to be realistic with how bad things were. They steered the ship back on course so that there's an actual future possible, and if they take what worked this season and build on it then I think we're in for a great Season 17.

So I take it they had no footage, so they had to utilize so much footage of them getting ready. How disappointing. I hope they get it together next season. Even last year had a strong reunion, despite the season being weak.

He/They
What a weird season finale...
At least it was tight, and if the season was tighter (like 13 eps), I think it would have worked out better, yeah?
Nicole deserved her firing, but she also took away a main part of the main Noella vs Fancy Pants with her.... Emily has had a good year though. I'd like to see Gina demoted to Friend Of or gone, for next year, along with Fake Dr Jen.
Shanon has managed to win me over this season, which is something. But she plays the game well, and will gladly become a Villain again next season.

I need a gif of Noella screaming into the wilderness.

Shannon miserable, spiraling, and crying about a dress... inject it into my veins. I stand by my opinion that the more miserable Shannon is, the more I stan. I love this dark cloud of a human!

There’s definitely something weird happening with the production company this year. They were shooting taglines on the day the premiere aired and so they weren’t included until week 2, the random gaps between episodes throughout the season, no reunion trailer the night of the finale and now we do get it and it’s 95% dressing room footage? Do we think Heather is still assaulting producers and making them delete unflattering footage? Because it’s getting weird.

I agree. The more miserable, there better! Shannon is just so entertaining to me.

I absolutely believe this. They need Heather more than she needs them and I do believe she pulls these tricks. I believe the rumors that she threatened Nicole which led to her exit. It’s also why the women are so afraid to go against her. I hope the power balance is better next year.

Isn't Heather a producer now?

Only 700,000 viewers for the season finale. A season low.

Looking back, they really did cut off the show at the knees by firing both Vicki and Tamra simultaneously, without allowing the remaining cast to gel. Vicki was perfect as a Friend Of as she became more rotted in her soul. Tamra has always been a necessity in the uniquely dark "tone" of OC.

The way the production company were willing to drag Gina and Emily along by the busted hip for FIVE SEASONS while Brown Wind got the boot for...being a messy Housewife? was incredibly short-sighted.

Imagine if we had gotten Heather with Tamra and Braunwyn, along with Vicki as a Friend Of. They could throw in anyone else they wanted and that would be a cast.

Elizabeth Vargas and Dr. Jen were absolutely catastrophic casting decisions. Two of the very worst Housewife hirings we've ever witnessed in a row was just too much for the show to handle.

Seeing Elizabeth come apart in front of a camera about her abuse history was absolutely vicious for them to broadcast. It was a point far lower in terms of exploiting a vulnerable person than Tamra getting Gretchen drunk. I still cannot believe she and that storyline were incorporated into a fucking Bravo show??

ANYWAYS,
OC should always be about a plucky, optimistic and well-meaning ingenue (Gretchen in the beginning, Alexis, Meghan King, Braunwyn during her first season) dealing with a group of vicious, rich women desperately grasping for youth. The conflict of the ingenue wanting to be accepted and validated and the older women wanting to destroy her has always been what has made the tension of the show work.
