The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (S5)

Few things can be true at once:

1) Bronwyn is a fantastic addition to the show

2) She’s an interesting character study who came in very rehearsed, but the occasional peek behind the mask (Todd) is fascinating

3) She drives me absolutely up the wall

I haven’t felt so complicated about a reality star in years! The power this show has!

Ramblings from last night:

Mary remains a shining beacon this season. What a great showing for her.

Second part of the reunion was a little weird. I'm over Meredith threatening to and/or storming off like a wimp who can't handle conflict. Especially when she is in the wrong. Being the loudest doesn't also make you right. (This also goes for Lisa most times.) Monica did say you did it at first, and at the time when Angie and Monica were friends, of course she is going to believe her friend. And you (Meredith) did go on about the rumors and nastiness about the huzzzband, so whether you specifically said what the rumor was, you were bringing them up on camera. She's too smart to be this stupid and think she can go scot free on this, even if she was not the one originally spreading the rumor or originally bringing it up on camera. Which Angie has acknowledged several times. What Meredith seems to fail to realize is that Angie and Shawn are trying to get her to understand why they would think at the time that Meredith was behind it, and therefore, why Shawn would say that on the Podcast. But she's just not getting it. It's annoying.

Bronwyn is having a hit/miss reunion. I still think she had a stellar first season, and I think she learned a LOT in her first outing and will adjust accordingly to in season 2. And I swear this is not my stan goggles, but I think these women are being willfully obtuse about her story regarding Todd and his DMs. She never said he fucked another women or took it to that level. She actually made it abundantly clear that it was about conversations she felt he took too far. Her explaining her POV (her history of feeling less than, etc.) makes perfect sense and you'd think these women would be a bit more understanding of that. I also, frankly, don't give a shit, if it feels like she's changed her story 6x about it or the jewelry either, and someone like Heather holding her feet to the fire about that when she spent an entire season lying about who or what gave her a black eye, she can get the fuck out of here with that nonsense.

BUT -- I don't think it was smart for Todd to go on having not watched half of what Andy & co. were going to talk to him about. Obviously Bronwyn told him about the conversation, but he did seem blindsided by a few things (particularly that it was Gwen who saw the DMs and alerted her mom about it in the first place?) He seemed genuinely hurt to hear that bit of info. I've seen so many conflicting opinions about them. "Bronwyn lies about it all." "Todd is forcing her to dumb down the story because she said too much." I think Bron got caught up in the whirlwind of a first season, but she's clearly extremely smart, got a sharp tongue, and can hold her own, so I look forward to her next season. And I can totally see Todd going the Robert Sr. route and saying "Have you fun on this show baby, but I'm out.!"

John is a punk ddd. "Watch your tone." Girl, his tone was not tone-ing. It sounded like he was afraid to speak up when he said it too. I can't. Seth and Justin are punks too.

I see it the other way to be honest. I find it annoying from Angie's side, I always have and I completely understand Meredith's frustration with how Angie and Shawn never seem to get it and can't just offer a sincere apology for dragging Meredith, without excuses. She rightfully stood up (literally) to Andy and production as well because they were clearly siding with their current favourite and would have happily let Meredith seem like the crazy person who keeps bringing this up.

And to Meredith's point, why did Shawn go on a podcast to reiterate how Meredith was involved in the conspiracy to bring up these rumours after the season finished which was after Angie had been told multiple times by Monica how Meredith didn't bring it up and after Monica was shown to be a wildly unreliable source? Angie and Shawn both ran with it well after Angie had stopped being friends with Monica. They didn't have a relationship with Meredith to take her at her word, uhmm okay, but yet you still repeated ad nauseum how Meredith was involved but then now, two years later, we find out they have no evidence to support that argument. In fact, they have more evidence to show how Meredith wasn't involved in some conspiracy because Monica has literally said she wasn't multiple times. But it's still crickets from them in terms of an apology to Meredith. Like why are Angie and Shawn still so pressed??! It made no sense last season and it makes no sense now.

Bottom line is, because she is loved, Angie has had free reign to say whatever about Meredith and she's gotten that pass because of something... Monica did and owned up to. I'd be pissed like Meredith is too.

It was a good second part. Mary continues to be the shining light on this franchise. I’m glad she and Whitney were able to connect for their little moment; I think it grounds Whitney.

My only issue is with Meredith. I’m tired of her, and Lisa, always threatening to walk off over the dumbest shit. She will walk off for semantics and conversations but when you’re alleged best friend calls you the official cumdump of NYC, you sit there calmly and listen and talk it out. I get it involved Brooks and the lgbtq community but NO ONE believed it. We all know what Monica said and how she backtracked like she did everything else.
