The Reissue Thread!

As I only ever seem to find out about most of the (previously rare and/or long deleted) 80s stuff coming out again via random browses or product suggestions at amazon or hmv.com, it seemed a good idea to have somewhere to talk about them on here.

The shops mostly can't be bothered to stock them either, so if you hear of, or by a miracle actually see WITH YOUR OWN EYES (!!!) any shiny new CD versions of "some stuff from the eighties", then post it in this thread....

Just tonight, I've discovered that the last few weeks have seen expanded reissues of Climie Fisher, Freur, Ultravox (completing their reissue catalogue), Helen Terry, Tony Hadley, Animotion and Hurrah (hurrah! hehe). And that's not including various other delights like Tears For Fears, Stephen Tintin Duffy, and the very sexy deluxe version of Duran's Rio across two discs.

Also, if you are sad like me and buy any of these, tell us if there are naughty things about them which we should know about them...if they sound like the dreaded vinyl rips, or they've generally been mastered by morons, or if that elusive mix is regrettably missing. You know, all that stuff which REALLY MATTERS.

Ahem.

I didn't know the London Boys "12 Commandments of Dance" was being re-issued until a random glance at the Cherry Pop website.

Really hope they can clear Sonia and Sinitta's albums someday!

Yes, that's another of the latest batch..albeit not one I'll be getting (I could never stand them!). But it's still good to see stuff like this getting a reissue.

Erasure's "The Innocents" is re-released on Monday (26/10). It's been remastered and there's a standard 1-disc edition, and deluxe 2CD/1DVD edition. The DVD looks great - the whole Innocents Tour concert which was only on VHS before, archive TV performances and the videos relevant to the album.

Oh, that might be worth a look! I sold off all my Erasure CDs a few years back (yeah, I know) and have made do with compilations, but if the bonus tracks are good enough I may add this to my ever-growing list of 80s reissues to get at some point.

I still haven't got any of the Kim Wildes, the Princess one, or Brilliant yet. And now I've added the two Climie Fishers, Animotion, Tony Hadley and the Freur doublepack to the list.

That Erasure reissue sounds like the perfect reissue. it should be a law that all reissues comes with a DVD with videos, performances and all that jazz.

Re: The 80s CD reissue thread! (incl. Cherry Pop, Lemon, Edsel etc)

i did bag princess and animotion though. and the new sinitta comp which i'm absolutely peaking in anticipation for!

Brilliant! Now there's a blast from the past.

Re: The 80s CD reissue thread! (incl. Cherry Pop, Lemon, Edsel etc)

Ooh! There's an Arcadia So Red The Rose 2CD/DVD coming out next year, and it seems they're doing the same with Seven And The Ragged Tiger, which is by far my favourite Duran album. Can't wait!

Now if someone could just get around to The Fallout Club (and the Trevor Herion album), then i'd be grateful.

This sounds interesting! They're two of my favourite Duran projects....not exactly sure what they can put on So The Red The Rose that would fill a disc *and* a DVD, but we shall see. Ragged Tiger will probably include Sing Blue Silver, I guess, and the 7" mix of The Reflex.

The Singles 81-85 triple box has just come out at budget price (about 9 quid for the lot!), so that's sorted out a lot of my DD needs.

Some of those tracks came out on the recent Thomas Dolby "Golden Age Of Wireless" deluxe edition. Great package, btw - for the price of one cd, you get all the tracks that made up all the various versions of that album, live and demo tracks, and a DVD of the Live Wireless concert film.

Re: The 80s CD reissue thread! (incl. Cherry Pop, Lemon, Edsel etc)

I'm quite glad I sold my Fearless CD a few months back now...fetched a decent price, and leaves me able to get this reissue if I so wish.

Still not sure how the Arcadia release will fill 2 discs, but Election Day is one of my favourite records connected to Duran Duran. Likewise, the Alison Moyet double-discers seem to be stretching it a bit.

I didn't think the Moyet material would FIT. 12" mixes, B-sides, unreleased... I have a list on my PC at home of the related extras, trianspotter style. Will consult it later...

Re: The 80s CD reissue thread! (incl. Cherry Pop, Lemon, Edsel etc)

Well, that Arcadia one is going straight on my to-buy list! I had no idea there was quite so much available material beyond 7" edits and extended mixes.

That sounds exquisite. It's remastered I assume.
Always wanted to buy her first two albums (there's a cheap two-fer in a cardboard sleeve), but always held back because the CD's weren't mastered by todays standards.
