The Reissue Thread!

Going from Discogs,

Singles from Control :
What Have You Done, Nasty & Control are the single edits/mixes but not tagged as such on the singles.
Let's Wait Awhile & The Pleasure Principle are the Album Versions.
When I Think Of You, I am not sure as the 7'' & album mix are the same length but the 7'' has an alternate fade.

From Rhythm Nation, they are all the single edits/mixes except Escapade, is the album version, Back Cat is the Video Mix/Short Solo, we got the Single Version (album edit) in Europe and Love Will Never Do is the single version (edit of album mix), whereas in Europe we got the Work It Out 7''.

I think from then on everything else is tagged as to which version it is.

Hope this helps.
Good selection of edits and fair enough too considering it was the versions we're getting that were released in Japan itself. Am most excited about finally getting this on CD!

Looks brilliant! Do we know something like this likely to have customs slapped on top if imported to the UK?

‘KNOW YOUR ENEMY’ REMIXED, RECONSTRUCTED AND RE-ISSUED AS TWO SEPARATE ALBUMS AS ORIGINALLY INTENDED: ‘SOLIDARITY’ AND ‘DOOR TO THE RIVER’

Following the success of 1998’s’ This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’, Manic Street Preachers planned an ambitious follow-up to be released as two distinct albums: an aggressive, rapid fire return to their roots called ‘Solidarity’ and ‘Door To The River’, a more conciliatory, reflective collection. During the recording sessions, the band got cold feet and settled on a single album that forced often conflicting ideas to sit side by side on the same record.

Whilst going through the band’s archive to put together an anniversary version of ‘Know Your Enemy’, Nicky Wire found the original tapes of ‘Solidarity’ and ‘Door To The River’ that he’d made up in the studio during recording. When he put forward the idea of recreating those records, James Dean Bradfield agreed on the condition that he could remix the entire record with the band’s longtime studio partner Dave Eringaz

Author and long-term band collaborator Robin Turner explains in his expansive sleeve notes that this release is “the Director’s Cut of ‘Know Your Enemy’. The picture has been painstakingly restored, cleaned up, brightened. Although it doesn’t aim to replace the original, it most certainly enhances it.”

The 2CD Deluxe Edition features both albums in full, plus 2 previously unreleased gems in Rosebud and Studies in Paralysis, plus previously unseen photos from the recording sessions taken by regular collaborator Mitch Ikeda.

The 3CD Bookset features both intended records in full, plus demos, outtakes, unused mixes by Tom Lord-Alge and tracks featured on the original ‘Know Your Enemy’, plus previously unseen photos from the recording sessions taken by regular collaborator Mitch Ikeda.

This vinyl edition ‘Know Your Enemy’ Deluxe Edition, presents ‘Solidarity’ and ‘Door To The River’ in the same order as originally planned in 2000, and includes 2 previously unreleased gems in Rosebud and Studies in Paralysis.

Yes to this! A no-brainer given how huge they were in Japan, surely? New Dead Or Alive product of any kind would be very welcome, but a Japanese Singles Collection would be wonderful.

Cherry Red Records are meant to be releasing some previously unreleased early DOA / Pete Burns tracks at some point this year. I wonder if there is anything left in the vaults after the release of Fan The Flame
(Part 2): The Resurrection?

Is there a risk of charges if you order from Japan?

Charges should be the least of your worries.
The package being rejected by An Post is the primary problem.
Since last year, I have had airmail packages from Japan, USA and UK (all non-EU countries) returned to sender due to "failed electronic customs clearance"

Simple solution
Japan - only order if seller ships via courier (Fedex / DHL). You pay the VAT & a handling charge but you get the package.
USA - only order from Amazon US or Ebay if seller uses Global Shipping Programme. You pay the VAT & get ripped off on the postage but you get the package.
UK - only order from Amazon UK (safest) or Ebay if seller uses Global Shipping Programme. You pay the VAT & get ripped off on the postage but you get the package. Occasionally will risk a low value item from Discogs.

Many thanks for the information. I still have a preference for CDs.
