Plz be Had It With Today xx

I couldn't find a good Una gif to reflect my reaction to this, because Lorde knows she'd be horrified to see this. So instead, I'll just go one of my old standby's from Kimberley. (to keep with the girl group theme at least)

Yeah, I don't know about these results so far... their covers might not necessarily add much, but they do benefit from being great songs with memorable melodies, which is more than you can say for a lot of the album filler.

Anyway, Postman Pat and his black and white cat managing to land a movie with the likes of The Saturdays on the soundtrack makes me smile. That show was cute and they deserve all the bops.

Hugs for the shout-out Hazey!

Now this elimination I can get behind! God, that “Radio 1 Live”-era really has a lot to answer for…

How is No One out before Beggin’? At least Christmas Wrapping and Please Mr. Postman are fun.

'No One' would have benefited from probably Una or Rochelle on lead during the chorus. Throughout their run, Vanessa was the default vocal and was not always utilized in the best way.
She is very talented.
Seconded. I really think it would fare better with some better vocal arrangements… Hence Denial doing better while being in the same vein sound-wise.

Out of all the exposure in Australia, I had to hear this The Saturdays song on a 13 song repeated playlist on a temporary Christmas arbor in front of the area where I worked in 2015. They still had the regular playlist playing throughout the store.

I heard All Fired Up blasting out of a Hairhouse Warehouse one day I was walking by many years ago and the memory still sits with me. My inner British cig self was living.

Also, if there is any justice in this world, Turn Myself In will be rocketing into the top 30 at a minimum.

No One deserved better, but Beggin & Please Mr Postman are more than welcome to be cut.

No one is boring. It sounds very uninspired, and when you put it up next to the other songs in their discography it really doesn’t have room to shine. The beginning synths are nice, but it’s definitely a filler track.

Neutral towards Beggin’ coming in at a low spot, it showcases their vocals really well but it’s sound makes it an outlier in their discography- though they always rocked the acoustic sound.

More Wordshaker tracks out next please!

It's not any more boring than 90% of their other ballads though, so I don't get why this one specifically is the one everyone hates. Like it's so random to me dd.

I think it's the very simplistic production and slow tempo. The other ballads generally have have busier productions and are a little closer to being midtempo. The production in You Don't Have the Right, for example, builds with strings and bass coming in after the first chorus. I find it difficult to pinpoint things to like about No One whereas the other songs have more going on so there's something you can hang onto.

If that was the reason then songs like Fall, Died In Your Eyes, Wish I Didn't Know etc. would have done just as bad last time around so I don't think that's it.

B-Sides Rank | 17th/20 (17th in 2015)

Most Solo Time | Vanessa, Rochelle, and Mollie

Hazey Says | Nothing really works for me on this. The whoa-ooh thing in the chorus is so irritating and overall it sounds very repetitive. This song must be a slower version of what most people apparently hear when listening to "Problem with Love". I just can’t. (3)

The shortest song in the rate at 2:50 (A blessing). The B-Side for "Not Giving Up" (a choice, even if my love for the A-Side has waned over the years).

Some people in 2015 enjoyed the light R&B vibey sound this song went for, but most people were with me calling it grating and saying it doesn’t go anywhere.

Commentary

@daninternational (10) - Should've been a single, Rochelle's voice makes it feel more modern

@Attis (9) - Serving Rihanna's album b-side tea

@Ezz (8) - The Vanessa-Rochelle partnership is beautiful, really suits the song's atmosphere

@Scaper (7) - An unintentionally hilarious song. So many weird and bad choices, particularly all the L-oooOOuhhhoooOoouhhhOOoouh-loves.

@louciano (5.25) - I hate the "uauauauauauauaa"s.

@Phonetics Girl (3) - Pretty much unlistenable.

@Sally_Harper (1) - The chorus is just so awful. I can't.

Count me with what Sally and PG had to say, it truly is borderline unlistenable.I can't really say that about very many songs (if any) from them. It's interesting that I point out that nauseating "whauaua" thing with a 3 attached to it, but the same complaint in the commentary produced a 5.25 and a 7. Just goes to show you how a similar feeling towards a song can be applied to a variety of scorelines.

Both girls grabbed 2 shoutouts in commentary, Rochelle's coming with this year's rate. It's Rochelle's first song award of the rate.

#73 is from a pre-Headlines album.
