The Saturdays

Okay, so Little Mix is nowhere to be seen. Also Neon Jungle. I think GRL won't make a quick comeback since they're a four-piece now. I guess Sats still have a chance, or at least I hope so.
And Fifth Harmony? I don't even know any of their songs, do they even release stuff?

Even more girl group competition for The Saturdays as Fifth Harmony are debuting in the UK with an X-Factor performance in a few weeks. So that will be them, Little Mix, Neon Jungle, G.R.L and The Saturdays on the scene. Yes, girl groups can exist alongside each other but five of them fighting for a fanbase and fighting for the radio playlisting (as Radio 1 and Capital are unlikely to have more than one girl group on their stations) is going to be tough.

Although saying that, Neon Jungle seem to be over already and apparently had to fight to release another single from their album (which is likely to miss the top 100 anyway) and we don't really know if G.R.L will have another hit or if Fifth Harmony will blow up or not so maybe things aren't that bad.

How will it be difficult? Radio has no problem playlisting One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, The Vamps, Lawson, Union J at the same time.

Boy bands are always treated differently from girl bands. Capital take advantage of their teenage girl fanbase by getting them to Tweet/hash tag Capital's stations (TV and radio) to request songs and Radio 1 see boy bands as "cooler" to support since most of them play instruments. Girl groups already struggle for airplay and promotion without there being four other groups on the scene to compete with.

I don't see Fifth Harmony or Little Mix as an issue for The Saturdays. You can't worry about the Sats not getting radio support when they aren't getting any regardless.

I'm not sure why he's worrying either, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix have a record label paying for a radio plugger and they get playlisted. The Saturdays lost that budget luxury about a year ago and haven't been getting on the play lists since.

There's no point worrying that they're being left behind. They know they're losing out by not paying someone to plug for them.

There's no competition. The Saturdays are barely here at this point; Little Mix has vanished as we wait forever for anything new; Fifth Harmony is unpredictable, they can either smash with their new single or flop; And Neon Jungle is already gone. GRL, even at their tragic position right now, is the group with the biggest shot at having success if the new single is as good as it seems.

Their private gig tonight for Casio was pretty incredible. It was in the Casio store in Convent Garden and had around 30 odd people there, mainly media people with a few competition winners and they sang What About Us, Disco Love, Issue and Chasing Live fully acoustic, even without microphones. I was blown away with just how flawless they sounded!

The Saturdays are barely here at this point;

I'd like to understand this...they released a full album a year ago with five singles. They released a greatest hits and a single during the summer and toured the whole month of September.

Not to mention that three of their members have either been signed on for some of the most watched shows or are currently appearing (talking about Strictly and CIN).

We may not have an idea of what is to come next but it's only been two months since something significant as a whole band ended.

Frankie was on Radio 1 earlier playing Call or Delete and apparently pranked Rochelle and Kevin.

Nick Grimshaw pranked Rochelle by saying The Saturdays single's as part of the conversation. She was quite slow at realising this.

Frankie pranked Kevin and basically said she wanted another dancer to help them as he's really good and easy on the eye. It was amusing. She's doing the quickstep this week.

It's here, about halfway through is when he speaks to Frankie I believe.

Thanks alot.

That was so funny. "Oh you idiot" had me in stitches. It must be so weird being famous and thinking you're talking on the phone privately and then being told it's being aired on Radio 1, like it's no big deal at all. Imagine she had to say something bitchy about The Sats members or say a racist word or something crazy like that? Surely these things are planned in advance? Haha.

And I've now, today, accepted there is no Christmas album. It's far too late now. Will there even be a soundtrack CD for Get Santa? It's out in like two weeks and there's nothing listed online...

Preach. I think everyone is waiting to see what G.R.L. does next but Im excited to see what happens to Fifth Harmony in the UK.

GRL and Fifth Harmony aren't even remotely on my radar. There's something quite copy and paste about them *at the moment*,

Little Mix on the other hand are never not exciting for me.

The Sats, bless them, seem like the old timers now. I really can't envisage them ever heading into another full album campaign ever again.
