It's also most likely the studio time Mollie had was for songwriting and she, I presume, did the demo vocals.

Not exactly true. It's definitely not a song I'd choose to showcase vocals but the bridge is hard to sing (Tranessa's infamous look to the sky in pain came from that) and also Ina's wailing (Una tried but failed). Infact it is a great song but it is so full of effects especially near the end that it's quite a hard song to pull off live properly.

But I'd say Cheryl is able to sing in her comfort range; Frankie would unfortunately struggle.

Also Frankie panicks a lot, being a solo star is so much more pressure vocally it'd be too much for her. I know there's the option to mime and dance but I just don't see much passion for that career from Frankie.
