The Scream Franchise

After the success of Scream, Wes had free reign to direct any project in the Miramax stable as long as he made Scream 2 and 3 (and he picked, ahem, Music of the Heart) so I imagine that they have it written into their contracts that they have to make 7 and then pick a project they love and get it funded.

It says in the article that they’re making the universal monster movie their next project unfortunately. I don’t mind if we have to wait an extra year for Scream VII if it means it’ll be the same writers and directors as 5 & 6.

Yeah I'm fine with a wait and I think the audience in general wouldn't mind if it means we get the same high quality, but the studios 99% of the time think of money before anything. We'll have to wait and see I suppose?

Even if Radio Silence were confirmed to be doing the next film, there’s not much of a realistic timetable to get it done in time for the Jan-March Q1 window of 2024. Then you start to enter summer blockbuster territory - not unknown for horror to release in summer but not typical either.

I’d be more than happy to wait until autumn 2024 or even early 2025 if it means keeping it in the Radio Silence family.

ViewerAnon said he heard they want to be filming by October at the latest. If they manage that, they’ll be able to get it ready for release next year. Of course I could see then delaying it to keep Radio Silence which is fine as well.

I’m open to anything though. I don’t think a new director would be a horrible thing, depending on who is chosen.

When the killers of VII are Stu stans (stuns? Little Machers?) that grow obsessed with thinking he's alive. The whole original Scream 3 cult thing, only Miss Lillard remains dead while telling the fans: this is how crazy you guys all seem.

There’s literally zero need for any foolery to get the likes of Stu and Casey back when there’s a really solid cast that’s still alive and kicking. Other than some future Sidney/Kirby/Gale appearances, the franchise is primed after VI to move forward into new territory. No retconning or backtracking needed.
