Oh, the label definitely pushed them to do a sound they weren't ecstatic about with Sweet 7 and I sometimes wonder if the girls - mostly Keisha - understand now just how transparent their tactics and manipulations were. I've always physically cringed at that story Keisha told about Rihanna hearing their songs because it always seemed so false to me - clearly just a way to pacify her into thinking they were making a good album (and I say 'her' because she's obviously the only one from that line-up who would need convincing).
"You know, coincidentally, just a few minutes after you left the studio last night, we made Rihanna listen to She's A Mess...and she said she really liked it..."
