The Traitors (BBC One)

he/him
I finished this last night and I’m now obsessed.
It was THRILLING to watch Cirie play the fuck out of everyone. She had a strategy from day 1 and never wavered from it. That was some of the best psychological manipulation I’ve seen on a competition show. Maybe I need to watch Survivor nn.

Kate’s arc was so funny. She had everyone gunning for her, lost her only allies, gave up, and then they refused to eliminate her so she had no choice but to participate. I think she could’ve made it to the end if she wasn’t an outsider the entire time. Her refusing to let Rachel live was amazing drama though.

Quentin is so fucking DUMB. He only made it to the end because Cirie knew he was dumb. I was honestly impressed by his audacity.
And yes, that episode 8 roundtable was a complete mess & absolutely gripping. Give them an Emmy.

US:

Just finished the show, I really enjoyed it. I think I'm going to watch the UK version next. It felt so weird seeing Cirie and Stephanie on UK TV. It was a good show but the celeb element ruins it. It brings up so many problems. Half of the celebs don't need the money and the majority of them are from shows that aren't even shown here. I also think it's unfair that some of the celebs have prior relationships (as much as I love Cirie and Stephanie).

I really enjoyed Alan as host!

He / Him / His
I finished the US season.

It was pretty good! Didn’t come close to the UK season for me but it was fun and generally got better as it went along.

Cirie played an incredible game and Kate was an absolute Queen throughout, doing well to fill the Brandi shaped hole left behind after Episode 3. Also Quentin sounding exactly like Nina Bonina Brown never failed to crack me up

Decided to give Traitors UK a watch (I know I'm late)

I thought this was meant to be a likable cast? They're so annoying and loud nn (maybe I'm just old and grumpy)

He/They
I'm waiting for Marielle to fuck up, it's what I'm doing, she's too smug by episode 7, and yes, having a contestant who never speaks is honestly so hilarious, constantly.

I must say, they'll have to mix how they film it in all the seapon twos, or all the last one's who come for breakfast will be known as "the other name" in the Traitor Vote, and sort of signpost their innocence

I would really like to see a season where at least two traitors made it to the end together. It's great to see some of the backstabbing but the us Vs them is what I enjoy about the show overall.

US Spoilers
The winner played a great game, but I can't help feeling that Arie was short-changed with the "he didn't work hard" narrative, when he had a harder job of going from faithful to traitor. YES it's the game but I really did think she meant it when she said she'd take him to the end with her and I thought that would have made for a slightly more successful and exciting ending if the two of them took it from the other two.

I agree entirely. Maybe from the outside you don’t understand the paranoia but there is no need for the traitors to ALWAYS turn on each other? Win together! (This is probably where I would be duped if I was on the show)

I haven’t watched the US version, but from the UK series, it would’ve been basically impossible for traitors to win together, no? After the last murder occurs a traitor has to be identified before the rest of the players will vote to end the game.

So if the last official round table banished a faithful, they’ll have to keep going at the smoke pit until they get one of the traitors. And even if all 3 original traitors make it to the final, the faithfuls would have to be pretty foolish vote to end after they’d finally gotten one traitor out, given that the clue is in the name of the show that there’s gonna be more than one traitor.

Yeah they could have just kept voting faithfuls out until it was only the two left.

The Traitors could just vote together to banish all of the Faithfuls?

It'd have been quite easy for Will and Kieran to have ousted Aaron together at the final roundtable. That would have left Kieran and Will vs Hannah and Meryl. If the Traitors voted together they'd have at least half the vote. We have no idea what would happen in the case of a tie vote, but as long as they voted in sync they'd likely get rid of one faithful in the first firepit banishment and then the final one in the second leavng just the traitors.

I think that's also why they can't discuss the banishments at the firepit, saves giving anyone an edge and puts it all in trust.

I missed the boat with the UK one as I was abroad when it was on. But I watched the US one when that came out for Brandi as I’m a Real Housewives fan and I really enjoyed it.

So, I’ve opted to go back and watch the UK one and oh my god, this cast! I never knew us Brits could be so dramatic. I’m on episode four and this breakfast is wild.
