The Ultimate Popstar Countdown 2017 - #450a

Is it a little sad that I'm looking forward to hearing my early exits from last time spliced into the new videos...? Well unless they've garnered additional votes, that'd be great (and unexpected)

Also, add me to the list of PJ'ers ecstatic to have this back!

Hmm who the hell is Alexandra Burke?

I know Anouk but only from her Eurovision-Entry. I liked the song and even voted for her (the Netherlands)!

But I really don't watch Britain's Got Talent or British X Factors. I don't watch our own talent shows anymore

Somewhere in the back of the mind I remember the name Alexandra Burke, so maybe I heard about her ... I've looked her up Bad Boys, Halleluja and Everybody Hurts did make it into our charts ...

Would that be the german ones? (Without spoilering your list I picked up on some german acts in there)
How random that the single by the entire X Factor crew of 2008 even got an international release!

Not German but Austrian but I did put one of the winner of German talent show "Popstars" on my list. The other really well known German speaking act on my list is Austrian

Glad to see Vonda Shepard get a mention here - she seems largely forgotten since Ally McBeal ended.

She was so close to my list for sheer Ally nostalgia. Though I did love most of By 7:30 as well.
If I'd gone more by 'artists who I've played most throughout my life' she could have made my list, even if just because back in the late '90s I only owned about 40 cds, 5 of them being by Vonda (with some help of the cast here and there). But overall she's not really on my mind (or playlists) anymore, though I do enjoy her whenever itunes brings her up.

I got a huge (nostalgic) weakness for I Can't Help Myself and Fell In Love With An Alien due to them being everywhere at the time. So random, cause I don't think the band was particularly popular before or since those 2 singles.

Alcazar can be pretty hit or miss for me. They have some absolutely great tracks, but a lot of their material is just a little too cheesy/happy for me.
I say this as a fan of BWO and Steps, but those usually have something bittersweet to their songs which a lot of Alcazar's material lacked for me.

I loved Ally McBeal and I nearly put Vonda on my list as well!!! I didn't because I only know her songs from Ally ... Did she do anything musically apart from that?

P.S. The duet between Robert Downey Jr. & Sting was amazing, wasn't it?

On all the Ally soundtracks there were also some originals by her, most of which did appear on her previous or later albums. She actually has quite a lot of non-Ally releases but I mostly prefer the covers.
Though Baby Don't You Break My Heart Slow was an original, and a great one at that!

I also love these of her original material:

And of course Searching My Soul!
With the original votes included that already makes 4 people who are here for Vonda (and 100% of the people responding thusfar). Always a nice surprise to discover mutual interest for acts that don't really discussed on here!

I probably should like Babymetal but I can't bear to listen to any of their songs.

Sad to see that no one else included Alcazar, but I guess that few people remember them now. I don't mind if they are a bit cheesy, they were one of my favourites at the time and I still listen to them.

Some great music in those videos! Good song choice for Alexandra Burke. I've been meaning to listen to more of Shannon, since I only know Let The Music Play.
