The Walking Dead

Well that makes sense. But I 'liked' the original page whilst the show was still in production so that was ages ago. They normally just do posts like "What did you think of last night's episode?" without giving anything away, as opposed to HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED without being able to avoid it.

Wow, didn't realise this was happening - a zombie TV series based on the graphic novel series (alright, the comics) of the same name.

The AMC television network has greenlit a pilot adapted from Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead.

The show - based on Image's critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic zombie series - will be directed and scripted by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), reports Variety.

Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will be executive producers alongside Darabont.

"The Walking Dead's road to the small screen has been a long one, but so far it's looking like the best of all worlds," Kirkman said.

"Given AMC's track record with shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, combined with Frank Darabont writing and directing, I couldn't possibly be more excited for this to come together.

"Having the pilot greenlit is a huge leap forward to this becoming a reality."

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Oh wow, if they get this right it could be amazing! I just read the whole series of comics in just over a month, once you start reading it is so addictive!

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

I've got the 4 hardbacks (I think there's a 5th out soon, if not already) and I'm about halfway through #3. They're great!

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

I got the 4 hardbacks too! Number 5 is on its way.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts about book number 4 when you have read it, pretty shocking.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Could be cool if there's some humour in it. Nothing worse than a Zombie film that takes itself far too seriously (I'm looking at you "Land Of The Dead").

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

No humour please! Unrelenting misery, like a zombie Eastenders.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Yeah, misery all the way. And judging by the books that is what we are gonna get.

I'm not suggesting it's in the style of Shaun Of The Dead, but something along the lines of True Blood. That balance of horror, drama and humour... with a few hotties thrown in.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Nope, these books are death, death, arguments, death, more death, extra zombies, more tension, death, dirt, disease, misery, suffering. And death.

Ok well just assure me there are no pretentious military or medical type characters running around spewing big words about virus' and bio weapons that no one really understands, then maybe I'll be interested.

Haha, I love Walking Dead, and that is a perfect summary of it. I've never known a story that takes such pleasure in its protagonists suffering.

For those who have never read them, just imagine Day Of The Dead except ultra bleak and never ending.

One things for sure though, I seriously doubt they are 100% faithful to the character of Philip the Governor. Easily the most fucked up, disturbing character of all time.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Casting news:

Prison Break star Sarah Wayne Callies has joined the cast of AMC's Walking Dead adaptation.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actress has landed the role of Lori Grimes, wife of protagonist Rick.

Callies joins Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey DeMunn on the project, which is helmed by Frank Darabont. A pilot episode will begin shooting later this month.

In Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead comic series, Lori Grimes is a survivor of a zombie outbreak. She plays an instrumental role in one of the story's darkest moments.

The Walking Dead has been commissioned for six episodes.

Egg from 'This Life' is playing Rick!

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

I love zombie films, so the idea of the whole concept being put into a series where there can be character development & huge plot twists makes me very happy.

Egg!? That just seems bizarre, of all the people they could have chosen.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

I could imagine Thomas Jane or something like that, but Andrew Lincoln?? This'll be interesting! I think he's contractually obliged to show his arse at least.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

I used to really fancy him in This Life and Teachers but thought he was looking quite rough by the time This Life +10 came out, and even that was quite a while ago.

He plays nice and sweet guys really well but this role is far far away from that! It'll even be weird to see him playing an American cop.

Re: The Walking Dead (Coming Soon!)

Apparently filming started about 10 days ago on this. It's supposed to start in October (quick!) and 6 episodes have been ordered to start with.

Excited.
