The Weeknd - Dawn FM

Dawn FM being complete with Abel singing his own radio station jingle...I'm ascending.

Happily bopping to Gasoline but then I started listening closer to the lyrics and this is dark. Also the fucking production???? Abel has me by the neck.

After Hours felt very moody to me and this feels...spacey? Like the former exists in the darker, seedier side of reality and this is just in another plane of existence entirely. And the way I've enjoyed every second so far, not even realizing that I was already halfway through...he refuses to miss.

This is literally one smash after another. I was worried it was too soon or might be too similar to the last record, but this easily stands on its own. It's a deranged new wave fever dream, and possibly his best work ever. I just got to Is There Someone Else? and was scalped for the 5th or 6th time already on the record.

If this is what I hear on my way to hell heaven, let me just pack my bags!

“I Heard You’re Married” is the only skip for me mainly because Lil Wayne just doesn’t really do it for me on that track. But otherwise this is just relentless bops.

His verse really stands out as the weak spot on the record. It just doesn't work at all. Wayne is increasingly hit or miss these days, but he feels totally out of place here. It's a pity, because I really like the rest of the song.

Meanwhile, I wish Tyler had more time on his track.
