I just always assumed it was dropped because it made it more googleable.
Apparently there’s a band called The Weekend.
Plus Abel has always been big into aesthetics and started releasing as the industry was transitioning from MySpace to Tumblr/Blogs in regards to tastemakers.
Dropping/replacing vowels was popular in the witch house that was trending at the time (also see Charli XCX’s True Romance imagery).

The video reminds me of all those moody 70s-80s thrillers like Klute and Body Double where people get watched through telescopes in apartment windows.

I assume it’s the conclusion to this trilogy? Part of me wants him to go away for a couple years, but life is too short, so I’ll take it.
Having this exact internal conflict, but I agree. It feels like he hasnt stepped back in so long, but I'll take an embarrassment of riches while he's creatively feeling up to it... when he eventually disappears for a few years, I know I'll be appreciative of how much he's putting out now.

Not to mention there's still The Idol soundtrack. I don't know if he's contributing musically beyond curating/exec producing, but we're definitely getting more from him in some form soon.
Did the label make a decisive push recently for Die For You after it’s gone viral?
I assume they sent it to radio, it's top 5 there and still growing. It's about to push the album Starboy back into the top 10, too.
