The White Lotus (HBO)

She/Her
I loved the first two seasons but I'm really undecided about whether I'll watch this one or not. Is it worth getting a NOW subscription just for this?

I’d wait until the whole thing is out and get a seven day trial and binge the whole thing before the trial is up.

I suspect it will be better when binged. I’m finding watching it weekly a real slog as it’s pretty slow and repetitive compared to previously seasons.

I did my own self guided “tour” of White Lotus shooting locations when I went to Sicily earlier this year and the biggest bit of trickery that I discovered (probably common knowledge to anyone who has googled it!) was that the beautiful sandy beach that Daphne and Ethan are on during THAT scene in the finale is not attached to the hotel and it is certainly not possible to just stroll over to Isola Bella for some extra-marital action from there. The walk up to Isola Bella was decidedly pebbly and trash-strewn:

Vs

I also had to track down the filming location for Harper’s/Monica Viti’s iconic moment in Noto:

Part of what made S2 so much better is that the characters left the property and got into their own adventures away from the hotel. Having been to exactly where S1 was filmed I definitely think it was ripe for the rest of the characters to get to other places on Maui. A huge fight with the Mossbachers on the Road to Hana would've been iconique, or at least a deeper cultural event to tie into the overall theme of colonialization/control.

I did a similar tour and loved it. Recreated the iconic scene in Noto.

Just read a theory

Someone will spike Saxon's shake with that poison fruit from episode 1, and considering the focus on both that seems pretty plausible..

The claustrophobia of Season 1 added to the incredible tension for me. And as someone who has been to annoyingly pretentious Hawaiian hotels multiple times, many of these wealthy visitors never leave said resorts, so it felt entirely realistic they’d all spend their entire vacations inches from each other.
