Gimme More is the first track and lead single from Britney's fifth album, Blackout. The track was written and produced by Nate Hills (Danja) and James Washington (Beanz) with additional writing by Keri Hilson and Marcella Araica. The song peaked inside the top 5 in 14 countries. It peaked at number 1 in Canada, number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on both Billboard Hot Digital Songs and Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs. A remix featuring rapper Lil' Kim (titled the Kimme More remix) was made available for digital download when the single was released. The music video, which was directed by Jake Sarfaty, received a mostly negative reception as viewers were left underwhelmed by the pole dancing scenes. The song has been covered numerous times as well as being sampled in many songs, including Scream & Shout by Britney and will.i.am.

My thoughts: This was a slow burner for me. Like, I've always enjoyed it but over time I've developed a proper appreciation for it. It's sexy, sultry, dark, futuristic and fresh. The song really set the tone for its parent album, showcasing a brand new direction for Britney when everyone was ready to write her off (not for the first or last time!) and it paid off. The iconic moments that Britney has collected over her career are innumerable but to snatch up one of the most iconic on the lead single of her FIFTH studio album. Talk about a way to kick off a new campaign:​
