The X-Factor 2008

I think Alexandra is getting stronger and stronger. The fact Diana wasn't in the show this week meant that the others weren't overshadowed quite so much. I bet they're all praying Diana is kicked out of the competition.

The little pop pixie must return next time for Fannypack week.

and soon, Diana Vickers will win.

And I will vomit.

It's her destiny to win. Cheryl will be Vic(kers)torious.

Really, i think tonight's result just goes to show that 'little miss showbiz' is not invinceable!

Well, of course not, but then I never though Laura would win. I don't even think Alexandra will win. Nor Daniel or Ruth. The only thing on that show which is invincible is Dannii's rock hard face.

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD!!!!

I cannot get over tonights X Factor.... my two favourite acts being put in the final two. Ruth's face and reaction when she survived was so geniune. She thought she was going home. I've been a big Ruth (and Bad Lashes) supporter and I'm glad to see her survive- but Laura is amazing as well.

The X Factor may be fixed, it not be (who knows) but damm, it makes good TV!

I kinda want Alexandra to win but with Diana and Ruth coming second and third.

I love Diana but winning the X Factor could ruin her.

Totally agree with Cheryl and Holly on the Xtra Factor that people just aren't voting for proper talent as much as they should be and fair fucks to them for saying that.

Evidence: Leon Jackson. The only reason he won is because he looked cute. People vote with their genitals, not with their heads, on shows like this.

So much to say so I'll start from the beginning.

You gotta bear in mind I am a massive Mariah fan and watch every performance she does. I have to say her "performance" of 'I stay in love' was dreadful, one of the worst I've ever seen her. Not just the fact she mimed. She had no stage presence at all. But it was the first time she's ever attempted to "sing" the song so *shrug*

On to the actual performances. Eoghan was pretty spectacular. One of my favourites tonight. They say he has a weak voice but some of the notes he hit were impressive. The song suited him well. Ruth. She sung 'My all' after I'd been going on about it all week. YAY! Unfortunately she didn't do a great job so the performance was not one of her best. Laura... I'm not the biggest fan of her anyway but that performance was pretty dreadful. She shouldn't have ever been allowed to do that song anyway as it just doesn't suit a solo performance, and the piano seemed to throw her off a lot. The end was redeemable though.

JLS... Marvin shouldn't be allowed to sing. He has an awful voice, whereas Aston has a gorgeous voice. So the song was a bit so so but Aston redeemed it. Daniel. Dreadful. Just dreadful. I won't even make any comments about his wife being dead or anything. It's gone beyond a joke. That performance was hideous. Rachel: I'm guessing she was thinking of her kids that are in care when singing it, so it was kinda poignant and very emotional. Compare that to Daniel's fake emotion and I actuallu believed Rachel when she sung every word. While she messed up a lot of the notes, the pure emotion is what carried her through and I guess deservedly so as much as I dislike her. And finally... Alex. I don't need to say it, do I? The performance of the night by miles! She nailed that song. Just nailed it!

In my opinion the best performances were Alex and Eoghan's whereas the worst two were Daniel and Rachel, with Laura and Ruth behind them. Saying that, the bottom two should not have featured Laura. Really (as much as I love her) it should have been Ruth and Daniel this week.

Ruth's second performance was utterly spectacular, maybe even better than 'Purple rain'. Probably the best performance of the night. She needs to embrace her rock chick every week. Thinking about it now, 'Bringin' on the heartbreak' would have probably been the best Mariah song for her this week. Laura's second performance was much better but a lot of the words seemed to be slurred and just melt into one. Ruth deserved to stay, but I expected her to go. But of course Louis only saved her cos Laura was bigger competition for JLS. Ruth's reaction was heartbreaking and had me in tears. "I'm sorry. I love you." She is definitely my favourite now!

Wasn't the only time I got emotional tonight though. Mariah singing 'Hero' live was amazing. To hear my favourite singer sing one of her classics live when she usually mimes constantly just reassured me what I see in her, and it was a moving performance. Loved it! Hated the tears I shed though.

Overall... Mariah week. Not the best week. Her songs are far too difficult for people to sing. You either sound like you're trying to be Mariah or your voice isn't suited to them at all.

As for next week... I don't need to say who needs to go, do I?

But after a year the public realise how crap is he and make his and his album flop :D

Dazzle, I am totally agreeing with you- Ruth's reaction to the decision WAS heartbreaking. I actually shed a tear (which is unusal for me lol). Ruth was absolutely spectacular- and she has been throughout the entire compition.

And xxwtsxx - thank heaven for small mercies. At least the Great British Public have come to their senses. Leon may be pretty, but when it comes to singing- he's slightly more credible than Paris Hilton.

Rachel was horrible, can't believe Cheryl was the only one to criticize her gig.

That said, Eoghan, JLS and Daniel are so mind-boggingly boring I can't fathom how they've stayed on past their first auditions. Get these losers the hell off of national TV screens NOW.

Seconded!!! I can't get over how unbelieveably cheesy JLS and Daniel were during Disco Week!!!!

I totally agree with whoever said Laura sounded like Belinda Belinda Belinda!
She sounded all a bit 'scatty' with the shoe-be-doo-bob slurring of words.
The theme is best of british apparently.... quite vague which is good.
Urrrmmmm ......Daniel and Rachel should have been bottom two. I think this week was pretty poor, apart from Ruth's survival. And Yep, Good old Def leppard/Mariah classic Bringin oin the Heartache would have been better for her. She has deifintely cemented herself as Ryan's second favourite behind Divine Diana.
(I thought I'd used 3rd person to fuel some debate as to why again :P)

I dunno, Louis is the one judge who seems to think rock thing is what Ruth should be doing, when she does these kinda performances he loves her. Simon however is the usual inconsistant cock he is picking the vastly inferior Girl Band over Ruth because he hates her not doing the Spanish thing but this week decides that her doing her rock thing is deserving of a place over the girl he was for a time pushing as his favourite.

But Louis will no doubt get all the stick and blame for Laura going out this week with everyone ignoring Simon and the publics part.

Though delighted Ruth is through.

"Best Of British" week next week...

Fucking hell.
=
ruth must do a queen track.

I thought that. But then I had problems trying to locate one that would fit her. However she does seem to just take anything with a rocky feel and make it her own.

My fave Queen is Under Pressure with Bowie. Probably because Bowie is one of my fave artists ever. I like him a lot more than Queen :)

Take into account that he nearly always has to be the one to decide who goes. If he always sent it to a draw and public vote, he'd losecredibility.
Granted, he has little to begin with.

He/Him
I'm gutted Laura is gone! I had her pegged as a finalist, if not the winner!

This season is going all a bit Pop Idol 2 isn't it.

Daniel is quite clearly getting through out of sympathy. It's more annoying than the Scots voting for their own! And before anyone says anything I am Scottish and it does my tits in!

Rachel needs a bloody slap. You were in the bottom 2 last week, get over it! She was another one pulling the sympathy strings tonight.

Eoghan, I just don't get. I just don't get whats good about him. He sounds rubbish every week.

JLS are good but nothing special, they are no different from the boybands of previous seasons.

I like Ruth for her passion and she does have a nice voice and she seems like a really nice person.

Cheryl has the strongest 3 who I expected all to be in the final. Alexandra or Diana to win!!!

She was my favourite.

Oh well, Team Alexandre!

I was gutted too! I thought Ruth's 1st song was a tad painful to listen to, to be honest. Neither deserved to be in the bottom two though!

I'm not that arsed but Laura really was quite good, ignoring that tedious last performance (didn't Somewhere Over The Rainbow have a tune before these shows came along?). Objects were being hurled around at this house. My mum didn't take it too well. I'm long past being bothered at the useless Daniel remaining in there, too, it's transcended the phase of unbelievability into plain hilarity. And don't we need a novelty one like that every series?

Me and all, there was a bottle of whiskey on the mantlepiece and if it had been any closer I swear I'd have thrown it at the TV when Dermot said Daniel was through. As it was, I settled for a paper cup, didn't have quite the same effect.
