The X-Factor 2008

I think Alexandra is getting stronger and stronger. The fact Diana wasn't in the show this week meant that the others weren't overshadowed quite so much. I bet they're all praying Diana is kicked out of the competition.

The little pop pixie must return next time for Fannypack week.

and soon, Diana Vickers will win.

And I will vomit.

It's her destiny to win. Cheryl will be Vic(kers)torious.

Really, i think tonight's result just goes to show that 'little miss showbiz' is not invinceable!

Well, of course not, but then I never though Laura would win. I don't even think Alexandra will win. Nor Daniel or Ruth. The only thing on that show which is invincible is Dannii's rock hard face.

and off you go again!

I'm losing interest I'm afraid. When an act as good as Laura goes out this early and Daniel, Eoghan and Rachel are still in it makes a mockery of the whole thing. It goes to show what poor taste the UK has. This would not happen on American Idol to this extent.

Cheryl is horrid. Dannii has so much more dignity than her and that's why her acts are staying, unlike that flop foul whore that is Cheryl Foul.

Rachel's performance may well be thwe worst on a prime time talent show since Rosie Ribbons doing "Winner takes it all" during Pop Idol 1. Utterly appalling.
But they judges, and the public, love "a journey", so are keeping her in. That and the thought she might "do 'em in".

Can't believe Laura went when Daniel is still there ! They should have get rid of him when they had a chance to ! Even Scott was better than "that" ! I really liked Laura so I'm no very happy with that ! And I thought Simon absolutely loved her, don't understand why he wouldn't save her ?

I almost cried at Ruth's reaction to the news. They're best friends in the house apprently, and there was a moent where Ruth was just relieved to get through, and then you could see the moment when she realised what it cost her.

Now that was truly emotional. Nothing else this season has come close.

Don't be mad. Nobody is voting for the singers based on who their judge is otherwise Dannii, whose records always flop these days, wouldn't be getting any of her singers through. You've got to vote on the singer regardless of judge. Cheryl is doing a really good job in my opinion and looking stunning while she does it.

I wouldn't vote for Laura just because Cheryl is her judge. God no. But then Ruth is consistently in the bottom two and the public aren't taking to her. It has nothing to do with Dannii that she's still there.

With Simon, when he realises one of his favourites isn't that popular with the public after all, he seems to think it's better to let them go earlyish so he can focus his support on one of his other favourites that have more of a chance.

What was that awful screeching noise when Mariah was singing Hero? When she hit a high note there was some horrible noise in the background. Was it a backing singer or was Mariah miming the high bits and just screeching away? It was a bit strange indeed!

I think they are all terrified of her.

It wasn't so much a song as an asthma attack.

My favourite quote ever.

I wish one of the judges would use it.

Well, now i've finally watched last nights episode.... good god it was awful. All i could think throughout was "Pop Idol 2". I'm not convinced X Factor will be back next year after this years scraping of the barrel.

Mariah and her mumbling, you and you and you and you. You could tell Simon was thinking "WTF!?"

I did like Laura, but hevery hword hshe hsings hstarts hwith han h. Alexandra was good, but i think she as hlding back a little, i don't think she was quite giving it 100%, or was maybe struggling a little.

Well, i'm gonna go cry myself to sleep listening to Leona to remind myself why I actually watch this god awful programme...

From a 'Let's try and even attempt to make entertaining telly' - this week, editorially, was a disaster. The viewing public had to wade in and give a totally unexpected vote just to lift it to 'interesting'.

Mariah week might work in the states, but here? A wholeevening of her songs on British telly? No.

It was when we were half way through, and one of the people I was watching with (my age, 22, and yes into all kinds of music) turned to me and said 'I haven't recognised one song yet'.

The thing is, that shows like Pop Idol and X Factor have forced certain artists, unexplicably and quite artificially, into the pop music canon - simply because that happens to be the kind of music Simon Cowell likes. In particular Mariah and Whitney. Both brilliant artists in their own right - but the best example of a 'Pop Idol' or someone with the 'X Factor'? Artists whose back catalogues can sustain over an hour on the most popular talent show in the country? Clearly not...

Not to mention the MASSIVE elephant in the room - that Mariah's performances, the ones of 'such a high standard' the contestants were trying to live up to - were terrible, both vocally and in terms of trying to create any kind of performance what-so-ever.

But last year, when Kylie was on, who arguably has MANY more recognisable UK hits than Mariah and managed to outsing last years winner in a duet, we didn't see a week of Kylie material - so why so with Mariah?

All in all, in terms of tedium and strength of performances it was the worst week yet.

The result was great though. Laura's VT worried me. "All I've ever wanted is for Simon Cowell to hear me sing" Really love, that's you life ambition? It dawned onme that she is of a generation of young singers that have grown up hanging on Simon Cowell's every word and have been sold, hook, line and sinker the fallacy that he has any clue what he's talking about.

After her second bad comment from Simon in a row - you could tell she'd given up, like his opinion was all that mattered. She needs to get out of the kitchen fast...

Ruth has zero respect for Simon (why should she? All he talks about is that she's Spanish and she has tits) and that's why I love her. And of course that she is an incredibly charasmatic performer.

How weird...Mimi is now singing live and sounds better than she has all year. Still waiting to see if she gets the big notes at the end....

My god, how bad must she have sounded the rest of the year then????

There is no denying that although she's spent most of her career making uniformally terrible records she used to have a fabulous voice. Not any more!!!

She doesn't even try to hit the high notes anymore. It's embarrassing.

Cheryl really pissed me off tonight, her inability to accept any form of criticism was getting on my tits but harping on in front of Ruth about how Laura was only voted off by Louis and Simon for 'tactical' reasons really wasn't on.

I thought Cheryl was a bit of a sore loser, she didn't have much dignity. She really needs to work on that. It wasn't fair on Ruth at all that she said that, when I think Ruth blew Laura out of the water with the sing-off. While I liked Laura and thought she was a nice girl, I felt there was something missing with her, her diction really annoyed me and that's something I think she needs to work on.

Disgusting, the show is disgusting. I love Laura as I did Leona, I find her breath taking. Yet we get twats like Chris Moyles urging people to vote in people like Daniel. Every year there is an act just like Daniel, and they sail past people like Laura and Austin...pathetic.
