This Delicate Rate We've Made: The Darren Hayes / Savage Garden Rate - WINNER announced

Hello and welcome to the Darren Hayes discography rate. He might be semi-retired and a case for the Comeback Coroner, but that doesn’t make his music any less amazing. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time and I can’t wait to find out what everyone’s favorites are - and of course the opposite.

We’re going to rate the whole discography which includes Savage Garden and his solo albums including some bonus tracks and b sides. Most b-sides and the side project We Are Smug can be voted on optionally. This puts the total of ‚mandatory’ songs to about 100 tracks. Don’t let the sheer amount keep you from rating though: You will probably already know most of these songs. And if you don’t know the b-sides you’re in for a treat if you like Darren’s music already.

Here are the rules:

1. Give each song from the list below a score between 0 and 10. You are allowed to use half points or decimals (i.e. 6.5 or 7.4). This rate works best if you make use of the whole scale instead of rating everything 8+. If it helps, there’s songs even the artists themselves probably don’t like.

2. You can rate one song (and one song only) an 11.

3. Commentary is very encouraged. If you are short on time, just send me the score and comment when we reveal the results, but to get the most fun out this send me the comments for each song with the score.

4. If there are multiple versions of a song (e.g. demos), rate the version you like most. Example: The Only One has a demo version that sounds markedly different from the album version. But for all that is dear please do not rate the Cascada version of Truly Madly Deeply.

5. When you are done, send a PM with the results to @jtm.

6. Optional songs: The Savage Garden b-sides, the We Are Smug album, the Spin b-sides, some of the other less essential solo b-sides and the new Cub Sport song are optional. Rate (and comment on) as many of the optional songs as you like. Depending on the amount of votes they get I'll either include them in the countdown or will reveal them separately.

The deadline is Saturday, January 11, 23:59 CET. Reveals will begin the day after.

I'm a Savage Garden stan, but his solo career has always been a bit patchy for me. (The highs are brilliant, but there's also a fair bit of stuff that's just too self-indulgent for me.)
