    I did know that, but I didn’t see a 10 from @KingBruno, so...

  2. If "Get Ur Freak On" leaves before the top FIVE, I'm going to raise hell.

    Ginuwine - Pony
    Score: 7,979032258

    Highest score: 10 x 8 (@kermit_the_frog, @berserkboi, @LE0Night, @iheartpoptarts, @slaybellz, @NecessaryVoodoo, @Number, @K94)
    Lowest score: 4 x 3 (@Terminus, @2014, @Heaven on Earth)
    My score: 8/10

There are two ways to describe "Pony":
1). One of the most unique productions in '90s R&B. The combination of a start-stop rhythm comparable to drum 'n' bass together with a bassline and tune created by a vocoder plus a slide whistle truly is something particular.
    2). [IMG].

Seriously though, what an overwhelming song. It's alluring, and the belching syntheziser sections make that effect even worse. Once you pay attention to the lyrics, you may notice that the song is a bit too sexualized: "If you're horny, let's do it, ride it, my pony/My saddle's waitin', come and jump on it". Oh well.

"Pony" is the debut single of Ginuwine which appears on his first studio album Ginuwine... The Bachelor (1996). The lyrical content is about an undisguised sexual come-on.

haps (7) is being uncomplicated by saying that "This song is serving porn." Yes it is. This doesn't stop ohnostalgia (8,5) from liking it: "I know it's tacky but I will not be ashamed."

Conan (6) can't handle the typical beat: "Great song, but the frog noise throughout the song literally makes me sick, so I can't listen to it for too long." Am I, as a host, guilty for torture now? DJHazey (7) mentions the 'noise' as well: "Iconic 'burpy' production and chorus, but it has a tendency to drag on rather quickly."

Many of you talked about Magic Mike XXL, where the song featured in. send photo (8) says that he "Loved this one but Magic Mike kinda ruined it a bit." I'm not going to post that scene at the end! londonrain (9,5) sees the movie as a great introduction to this track: "One of those songs that has grown on me over time. If you're new to the song, check out the dance Channing Tatum does to it in Magic Mike XXL." I may post that scene at the end. Sprockrooster (8) is grateful towards the film: "Magic Mike made me appreciate this song much more." Okay then, I'll definitely post that scene at the end.

Heaven on Earth (4) reminds me that Ginuwine is there too: "Ah, the male stripper anthem. This was the first major Timbaland single and he delivers in production. It’s just the great production deserves a better song. Not only that, I think the production overpowers Ginuwine. When I think of this song, I don’t remember Ginuwine’s vocals." When I think of this song, it's just the iconique beat that loops. Serg. (7) doesn't remember it from anything: "This has 40 Million views and I've never heard it? Bit shook. After the frog mating noises(?) at the beginning and the overall vibe of the video I didn't expect that voice, the lyrics are a kii." That's almost unbelievable! iheartpoptarts (10) isn't new to it: "This is so 90s iconic. I kind of want to Google and see what the My Little Pony stans have done to it but I also really, really don’t." I say: do it.

We close with AshleyKerwin (7) who wants more Aaliyah: "I can pretend this is an Aaliyah song from a guy’s point of view."

The music video was directed by Michael Lucero. It has a Western theme. And yes, Channing Tatum indeed danced to it in Magic Mike XXL.

  4. Pony out at #17 is outrageous! What an undeniable classic!

Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned/I Think She Knows
    Score: 7,935483871

    Highest score: 10 x 5 (@KingBruno, @berserkboi, @Untouchable Ace, @slaybellz, @Epic Chocolat)
    Lowest score: 4 x 1 (@Petty Mayonnaise)
    My score: 10/10

I know that most of you don't stan Justin Timberlake as much as other artists in this rate like for example Aaliyah and Nelly Furtado, but come on. "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows", really? This is one of the most impressive records Justin and Timbaland together delivered.

"LoveStoned/I Think That She Knows" is a song that accepts the challenge to make use of subgenres that are completely different from one another. We're speaking of a song that includes influences coming from both R&B and art rock. The first, lyrically exaggerating part of the song perfectly alters into a more peaceful, regarding interlude that works like a love song. The song contains beatboxing in its production that gives the track an original, necessary dance twist. Furthermore, the composition of both segments make use of a string orchestration and Justin's falsetto.

Most people cite the second segment as the better part of the song, and I can see where that comes from. The countermelody is splendid – it makes you fall in love with that part over and over again. Admittedly, I prefer the first segment. Is that because I love to bop to some attractive funk? Probably.

As for the lyrical content, Justin seemingly loves to make everything about sex.

It's just a brilliant piece of a two-parted pop music, for fuck's sake.

The song was released as the fourth single from FutureSex/LoveSounds. It got nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2008 Grammy Awards.

Sprockrooster (9) clearly prefers the second part: "LoveStoned is a 5 on a good day, but that 'I Think She Knows' is a career high for Justin and basically an 11. So let me go in between with my score. No, an 8 seems unjustified for the outro. A 9 it is." I can accept that. iheartpoptarts (8,5) is more here for the other one, I presume: "I mostly bop to the first part. Surprised YouTube’s got it the other way around!" The music video has it in the same order as the album, though.

haps (8,5) enjoys it no matter what: "7 minutes and 24 seconds but it works!" This is one of the few Justin Timberlake songs with an abnormal above average length that I don't feel like skipping! Meanwhile, AshleyKerwin (6,5) finds it "Too long." He adds: "I guess this was when Justin started his overindulgent thing, right? I can’t believe he rose to the top of the pop game for men and women just because he had a falsetto and some Timbaland beats while wearing suits like he’s a 70 minute podcast trying to plug in Indochino. Take this one back to the Men’s wearhouse clearance." Regardless of him being a very good performer.

ohnostalgia (7,5) comes for the beat: "I'd erased his beatbox phase from my memory." send photo (4) decides to come for the title: "Bih you ain’t Shania why you trying it with these titles? So pretentious." Never forget about the second capital in LoveStoned!

We end with Heaven on Earth (9): "I might as well confess it. FutureSex/LoveSounds is one of my favorite pop albums of all time – I know! I know! I’m a horrible Britney stan! – but one of my main issues with that album isn’t so much with JT himself, but instead with the way that the interludes are there and the small but important fact that they are not separated! Seriously, JT, flop idea. “My Love” could’ve done without the “Let Me Talk to You (Prelude).” But this is not about “My Love”; this is about “LoveStoned/I Think She Knows (Interlude).” This is the only time during the whole album that the fusing of the interlude with the song actually works. In fact, I think it improved. The moment when it suddenly goes from “LoveStoned” to “I Think She Knows (Interlude)” is such a great moment. I love the intro for “I Think She Knows (Interlude)”; it’s like whoa. It really adds such depth. It also helps that “I Think She Knows (Interlude)” could basically be called “LoveStoned Pt. 2” and no one would complain. I do think that there is a reason why this is such a loved JT song and find it astonishing that “Summer Love” did better than this on the U.S. charts." But why do you hate on the best track of FutureSex/LoveSounds then?

The music video is directed by Robert Hales. They had to use 600 kilowatts for the lightning effects. The video premiered on Yahoo! Music on June 13, 2007. Justin performed the song at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. He also gave a performance of "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows" at the Victoria's Secret Show. It got included on the setlist of his worldwide FutureSex/LoveShow tour.

I’ll accept that this had to be sacrificed to appease the JT haters, but now that this is gone can we PLEASE get rid of Partition?!
  9. How is this out before SexyBack and What Goes Around/Comes Around?? Shoulda tanked both!
    Jwentz and slaybellz like this.
  10. Let's lose We Need a Resolution, Cry Me a River, and Promiscuous first then eliminating Partition would be okay.

Promiscuous is my lowest score left as I've always found it very overrated.
  11. I'll sacrifice "Promiscuous" but let's not lose the other two.

    "Partition" can go next.

Er, no. None of those include a lyric as cringeworthy as “he Monica Lewinskyed all on my gown”.
  13. And in Magic Mike (2012) first! And his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum did the choreography in Lip Sync Battle.

  14. That weird moment when you're actually asking for a non-Formation Beyonce song to outlast anything.

Really? Because that Partition line has some barely-concealed sexist overtones which aren’t in the SexyBack line you quoted.

As far as I remember, Monica Lewinsky didn’t ejaculate on her own dress... but sure, let’s make her name the verb and make it slang for ejaculation.

It’s far easier to pick on the woman who got mercilessly pilloried for years while the man who actually did the ejaculating got to rehabilitate his image somewhat and nowadays (among other things) gets sporadically photographed with Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Absolute mess at the last two eliminations especially Pony, which is quintessential Timbaland amazingness. It's almost self-aware in how corny it is, but not quite which makes me love it even more. Should have been top 10.

LoveStoned is also fantastic though there seem to be some...vendettas when it comes to Justin so I'll be grateful it's in the top 20.

I own the remix album (I know) and the Justice remix is so good!

  20. 100% agree with you especially concerning that Monica Lewinsky line; however, in the "SexyBack" line I quoted, it's also quite misogynistic. Reducing a woman to a child? Really? Not only that, but that line does bring up some unfortunate pedophiliac suggestions, making it even more cringeworthy.
