Tinashe - Songs For You

The video for "Bated Breath" is really nice. The concept is stretched to hell over eight minutes, but she's charismatic enough to carry most of it. A good location can make up for a lack of variety a lot of the time.

The video is visually stunning but it's too long and Bated Breath is a personal low point on the album (admittedly it's all fairly solid). I can't help but think this concept could've been used for a better song; Bet, Cold Sweat, Indigo Child, Far Side Of The Moon, Feels Like Vegas or Wildfire...

It definitely goes on for too long but it's a very nice video. I like that she's done videos for Aquarius and Bated Breath, which are definite album highlights. I guess she knew the label would probably not OK those songs as singles but wanted to showcase them regardless.

I can forgive her for IGGZ.

Amazing song although that video intro is a BIT too long but the imagery goes super well. Looks like All Hands On Deck got most of the budget.

I don't think Bated Breath got any label money actually, I think she implied she just did it on her own like the Aquarius video (and many of her previous videos).

I love Bated Breathe! A stunning gem. Makes me want to cry sometimes when I listen to it. Video...doesn't do much for me. But I love her for trying.

The video is pretty great. Yeah, it's about a minute too long, but I was totally captured by the time the song actually started.

The part in the middle of the video where the song and reversed is probably the best part.
That, and when the video cut out to show that symbol with a video of her looking like she's in pain.

9.9/10.

Bated Breath is indeed the best song on the album. In a narrative where a young woman is riddled with personal questions, newfound fame, knowing sexuality and confident swagger, it is this unraveling of the narrator, a cry into the middle of the night you're all alone in your room and no one is around. It's absolutely heartbreaking and spine tingling in equal measure.

And those runs. Chills.

Not Tina subtly shading RCA in this article?

“I don’t like to sit around waiting for people to do things for me,” the 22-year-old says over the phone from London, where she is currently on tour. “So when I know my label’s not going to produce music videos, I’ll either make them myself or I’ll find people that I think are cool and reach out to them directly. I’m like, ‘Fuck it. I’ll just do it.’”

I love her.

That's the kinda attitude and work ethic that makes you a superstar. I'm so excited to watch her career.

That video is great imagery for the best song on the album.

That quote is everything. Good for her. I'm so impatient but I know her time will come.

I thought the pictures from that shoot were for All Hands On Deck - has that video been shot yet? (Or is it even happening?)

She is an incredible performer, her potential is endless.

Sadly though the album just isn't for me, it's all a bit samey. 2 On is great though.

Iggy rescheduled her tour dates so Tinashe and Nick both dropped out.

I'm very much here for the two of them going on their own joint tour...
