Tkay Maidza - Last Year Was Weird

In a statement to triple j, Tkay explains the song was originally intended for last year's self-titled debut album:

"Girls reached out to my US label asking if we had any unreleased songs for their final ever season as Lena knew who I was and is apparently a fan of mine. They wanted something for a party scene and I have maybe 5-10 songs that are basically finished but didn't make the cut for my album.

"We thought Glorious could fit well so sent them that and the feedback was that Lena loved it and they wanted to use it. I love the show and it's really crazy that they know me but I'm excited to see the track in there and for people to hear it."

The Spotify link plays for me even though it's literally listed as being released tomorrow, for some reason, but ditto on the video.

I'm much more into pop than hip hop, but Glide is one of my favourite tunes of 2018 and Mallrat bringing Tkay out for UFO at Splendour in the Grass last weekend was one of my favourite live music moments of the year. Any recos for which of her solo songs are the most pop-leaning?

To be honest her album is pretty pop leaning. Follow Me is a good one too.

The album is 100% pop.
