TLC are planning a US tour later this year followed by a new album to mark the 10 year anniversary of LeftEye's death and 20 years since the group formed. They've also released a new song in Japan called Rainbow, their first since 2005's "I Bet" It's an English cover of a Jpop tune: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGktnUeDKlU I wasn't expecting much but I actually really like it! So refreshing to hear them on some new music.

I know a lot of people will be against a TLC album without LeftEye but I personally LOVE T-Boz's unique voice and think she was the real star of the group and still sounds so great harmonising with Chilli. Hopefully they'll have some female guest rappers doing their thing, I'm sure Missy will be on it. Their music always had a positive message without being cheesy, probably my favourite group of all time.

TLC Plots Reunion Tour, New Album

TLC is reuniting on the 10-year anniversary of Left Eye’s death. Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas plan to bring back their third member for the group’s first tour in nearly a decade.

The massive U.S. trek is set to kick off later this year, a rep for the Grammy-winning R&B trio tells TMZ. So far, five major cities have been booked with more in the works.

The duo plans to incorporate the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes into the performance like Dr. Dre did with Tupac Shakur at Coachella, projecting her image on a big screen and working her vocals into the live performances.

Left Eye was killed 10 years ago today in a fatal car accident in Honduras. “The word anniversary means a celebration. For us her death will never be a celebration, it’s still something that hurts,” said T-Boz, while Chilli added, “Lisa is our sister. You never get over losing a family member. We love her and we miss her and that isn’t ever going to change.”

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of TLC, the surviving members are working with VH1 on a made-for-TV movie series inspired by their story as well as a new album.

“We’ll have new music right after the movie drops,” Chilli told Essence. “We have everybody that was there with us from the beginning on board.”

I'd love the idea of them performing with a Lisa hologram. Like they did with Tupac at Coachella

I would never say that T-Boz was the "real star," but she was just as important to TLC as Left Eye who was one of the most talented and influential rappers ever. I can't believe it's been ten years since she she passed! Not sure how I feel about this tour but appreciate the information, TLC are one of my all-time favorites as well.

I thought the 2pac hologram was a bit creepy, I hope they only use it sparingly and use backdrop video footage for most of it.

I can't believe it's been 10 years either. Crazy.

TLC have some great songs, I hope if they do come back with new music then it's just as good.

The Laruku tribute album is so bizarre, but completely amazing. Weirdly, though the TLC song was the one I was obviously looking forward to, Boyz II Men's cover of snow drop blows it out of the water. The English lyrics are so cheesy but utterly brilliant. I love it so much.

If the TLC album actually happens (I'm not holding my breath), I will defintiely be buying it.

TLC are one of the best girl groups EVER. I'm beyond excited for this reunion.

I'm trying to not get my hopes up on the album either (in case it doesn't materialise) but the fact that we've finally got a new song after all this time (however obscure!) makes me think they're serious about this. And the fact that they sound so damn good in it... it would be so easy for them to just give a lazy performance for a Japan only release, they sound so ready for a comeback! It did say in some of those stories they were in talk with LA Reid for the album... hell, even a Japan only album like K-Ci and Jojo's one from a few years ago would be better than nothing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_(K-Ci_&_JoJo_album) Those voices are too unique to waste any longer!

It really is quite WTF?! But I quite like their version - it's nice to hear it done in their own style and not a straight up cover.

Can't believe it's been 10 years...

Because it's not, even though it's one of their most popular songs! Most Japanese labels are control freaks when it comes to online videos! And when they do upload videos on youtube, it's either a 1 minute clip or the full thing in LQ...

The original song is called 虹 (Niji), which means "rainbow" (arc-en-ciel in French, the name of the band). It was released in 1997:

I still listen to TLC on a regular basis, so I'm all for new material. T-Boz & Chilli have such unique voices.

T-Boz & Chilli's voice are so distinctive and complementary... We need more of them!
