Top 100 Best Selling Albums Of The Decade....So Far!

    01. 21- ADELE (1-1-1-1-1-1-1) 5,068,400

Still easily clear and looking untouchable, “21” is of course the best selling album of the decade so far and the fourth biggest album of all time selling its five millionth copy in 2016. It spent its first 72 weeks in the top 10 including 23 weeks at No 1 even stealing a cheeky week in the top 10 in 2016 after her Glastonbury stint. It launched her as an international superstar and sold 3.8 million in its first year on the charts becoming the best selling album in the UK for 2011 and then the second biggest seller of 2012- could anything brake her top 2 stranglehold by 2020?

Performance in 2017: Only present for 26 weeks and peaking at No 43 but then it’s more than performed overall!

  3. King @gezza76 did it again.

I just wish something surprisingly will happen this year in terms of releases, but otherwise this looks like a top 10 set in stone.

  7. Well, the only Adele song I'd bother with these days is Hello, and that's probably because it reminds me of London Grammar a tiny bit. Imagine them topping this list!

Other than that, 25 was such a bland comeback, wasn't it? Only Adele and our busking hero can get away with that! The power of representing the average Joe/Jane.

Thanks @gezza76 for another great countdown!

Thanks so much @gezza76 – can I ask how long it takes you to gather all this information and, basically, how do you do it?

  12. I assume in Jan 2020 the OCC will produce an "official" one so my rundown will be redundant

  13. I update my list monthly so it isn't too bad to maintain. I am fortunate enough to have connections who can supply me with official sales from time to time and others I can guesstimate- it becomes kind of intuitive once you've been doing it for a while- I'm not always accurate but rarely massively off.

I can't wait for your next rundown (whatever it may be)!

  15. Some truly incredible albums here, it actually made me so happy to see them. Born This Way and Born to Die, namely, but I also quite love Progress, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful, A Perfect Contradiction, and all the One Direction albums (don't @ me).

Also to see ABBA slay over 30 years on... amazing.

  17. Also, Olly Murs really sells shitloads! Sadly his latest album is by far his best, and it seems to be the "flop".

  18. I know he's popular but I'm surprised he sold that much - basically 1D and Taylor levels.

Haven't listened to his latest yet, planning to get on to it soon.
