Top 33 Albums/ Top 45 Singles of 2010

Rather than moaning about whats in what position, why dont you all find an album on there u havent heard and go listen to it.

(Apart from telephone being so high as a single, i kinda of concur with a lot of it.)

Personally speaking, I think both lists are largely spot on.

Yes, I could nit pick, but since my top three singles of the year (Goldfrapp's 'Rocket, Gaga & Beyonce's 'Telephone' and Sophie's 'Bittersweet') are also in the Popjustic Top 45, I'm not going to.

I'm *still* not really adoring the Hurts album like I should be on paper (electro duo, synth-city, angst ridden, great vocalist), but I'd still say it's up there with the best of the year. The Scissor's 'Night Work' is probably my favourite album, and seeing as that's in the top ten, I'm happy.

I think I agree with a lot of Vasilios' points about it being an unashamedly pop list, but I can't help but feel that it's a little thrown together at the same time. I'm not expecting anyone to spend weeks and weeks compiling a best of, but the singles list in particular is a little odd. To see "Dancing On My Own" stall at 2 and be sandwiched between "Telephone" and "Alejandro", of all songs, is a little bizarre to say the least. Not to mention the relative snubbing of Flesh Tone. It's probably just my own bias coming through though.

Surprised at the Hurts placement. I adore the album, but it's not at all one of my best and I do find their schtick tires over an entire record after a while.

But then, I guess Peter is as guilty as the rest of us are about having a changeable mind. And it's been a weird year for pop music where not a lot seemed to really happen.

My problem is I thought it was a bit unnecessary to assume someone was 'sipping on hard stuff' just because you didn't agree with his opinion. I know you were joking, but it's still extremely rude nonetheless.

I find it incredibly ironic that you're calling everyone out on commenting on a person's opinion when most of the time all you can muster in the face of a differing opinion is a useless, condescending, "Err... okay then."/"Um... okay."/"Eh... alright."/"Insert another pointless, dismissive phrase here" type of retort. It's a bloody internet forum. What would we do if we didn't pass comment on each other's opinions?

K-Pop/J-Pop isn't music though.

Your loss. I'm surprised to hear this coming from you of all people, but whatever.

Any song I hear being raved about on KpopJpop threads, I click and hear the same thing time and time again, robobeats, lyrics that make no sense, songs and tours made to sponsor hair products, interchangable members that make Menudo look like the Beatles, and just 'fierce' this, 'bitch' that.

Sorry.

Preach!

While I might not agree with parts of the list (music is a matter of tastes), what is odd is that it seems lazily put together.
It would have been nice to see an editorial on each top 10 or 20. But oh well.

No it's not, you're dead on!

My thoughts on the Hurts album, condensed.

Oh dear.

And the fact that Jason DeRulo beat out Kelis in both lists literally has me appalled. Nothing else to say.

Telephone?

Other than that. It was slim pickings and PJ certainly made the best of it (90% of it).

'Baby' has every right to be there. Bieber is its the least redeeming quality, but its a tune! It reminds me of the Supremes, and that can only be good. Not very original but very well constructed. Its a tailored hit.

JLS being on the list is a bit bloody ridiculous. Love You More is quite possibly one of the most cringey boyband singles of all time. And to think I gave Sugababes a hard time for Sweet And Amazing.

I don't mind Telephone being #1, though. It was kind of obvious it would happen, and given that it is amazing in every sense of the word, it has every right to be there.
A bit shocked that Better Than Love is PJ's least favourite Hurts single, though. I think it's their best.

This isn't Music Week's Official Top 100 of 2010.
This isn't Pitchfork.

If you can't see the genius of Alejandro (especially the 'don't call my name' bit)
then I am sorry for you.

MAYBE people spend too much time listening to commercial radio/tv?
I never do, so I never get tired of songs as I used to in the past.
Maybe if I heard Ridin Solo, Telephone and Just A Dream 24/7 I may hate them, who knows.

As it is, it's a great, great list. Both of them.

And PJ Hi Fi is only starting, no?
Don't be so harsh.

No, Peter is not paying me.

Gabriella Cilmi in the top 5 albums?

I just noticed that too! I mean really!?!?!?! There were a couple of good tracks on there, and I could more understand ''On A Mission'' being in the top 10 singles list but albums like Flesh Tone, The ArchAndroid, Night Work, Head First and Aphrodite were all far far superior to Ten!

To be honest, the lists do read kinda strange. Can't believe that Olly Murs somehow finds its way into the top 45 singles, despite some awful write-ups on the front page, whilst Kelly Rowlands 'Commander', Kelis's 'Acapella' and Alexis Jordan's 'Happiness' - three songs that should have easily have been in the top ten, if not the top five, missed the list completely.

The low placing of 'Flesh Tone' is baffling as well...

Wasn't Cheryl Cole's album in there last year, even though he gave it 6 out of 10 in his review a few days before? I don't take the lists too seriously...
