Top of the Pops BBC4

I like it too, dunno why everyone I've seen commenting on it is so down on it.
Frances' live vocals weren't great though. Surprising she has had such a good stage career. Perhaps she's no good at pop.
I think the concept with Pop Frances was a clever idea but didn't work. It seemed like a bit of a weird choice for Eurovision after the high-profile choices of Michael Ball and Sonia. I like her version of God Watch Over You, though. I assume you all know who her daughter is.
Loved Prince appearing from nowhere alongside Mark Goodier (nice cardie).
Also, is it me or does the studio look smaller. It looked much bigger when they moved to Elstree - or am I used to it?

Well it is actually very small studio I think. That's what everyone used to say about it. It's clever lighting and camera work that makes it look quite big.

Was that really Prince in the crowd? It didn't quite look like him, and the audience weren't that excited to have him next to them.

It was such a treat to see Dame Frances Ruffelle twice with Lonely Symphony (We Will Be Free). It was such an odd song for us to send to Eurovision but I've always adored it - it's second in my affections only to Gina G as my favourite ever UK entry.

I agree with Mark Frith's review of it in Smash Hits

Mark Frith from Smash Hits gave the song three out of five, writing, "Everyone makes jokes about the Eurovision Song Contest, but we all want to win really. Frances Ruffelle is a rather wonderful, gutsy singer who could sing the London phone directory and make it sound good. And guess what? She just has! Well almost. This pleasant, atmospheric gospel song is the last thing that wins Eurovision. But after repeated listens it's wonderful."

Song of the night from both episodes were Eternal with their best song Just A Step From Heaven and then the handbag house anthem Reach. Judy Cheeks gave a great live vocal, I'm really surprised that performance didn't launch her into the Top 10 the following week. It's such a club classic, love the original Brothers In Rhythm production but prefer the 1996 Dancing Divaz remix

Choon!

One of the better offerings from last night's offerings I will admit!
