The signs were there that Take That were running out of steam with 'Sure'. Nobody else is a really poor album, save for the title track and obviously Back for good and Never forget. No wonder there was no 4th single. I guess Gary wanted to save what he considered to be his best stuff for his solo album and, well, look how that turned out.

He could always write a tune for (Mark) Morrisons if he falls on hard times!

He probably didn't expect to get Clive Davis-ed.

Well, I like Sure and the Nobody Else album, however unpopular that may be!

Also, when we did the Take That rate on here 12 (!) years ago I’d Wait For Life was actually the one that came dead last. That said, I’d probably single out one of the more recent singles as their worst now.

It's mad to think they were running out of steam as at the time, always felt like they were really huge right up until the split and I really like 'Sure'

They were huge up to their split. Nobody Else wasn't a great album, but it did spawn 2 of their biggest hits. They certainly didn't need to split and should've probably just taken a year off. But I guess it all worked out alright in the end!

Ah right, see what you mean...just their output was losing steam not them as an act.
Yeah I always found the split a bit odd...they obviously all needed a break, maybe at the time they felt it had to be all 5 or nothing

Tonight has Kate Bush’s last TV appearance to date, apart from televised award ceremonies. Michelle Gayle enthusiastically introduces her as though she’s making a comeback. In reality she’s about to disappear for 11 years, and it’s just a mimed performance of And So Is Love, a rather depressing fourth single from The Red Shoes. She even has backing singers miming to her own vocals!

I think the single actually went down in the charts after this performance, which undoubtedly questioned her need to promote. Also a bad experience on Michael Aspel’s show almost 18 months earlier, and an appearance on Des O’Connor’s which wasn’t even shown must have helped fuel her decision to abandon TV.

Oh? Are you able to tell more about those?
