To Venus And Back and I are having a moment together.
It's not like I disliked the album before, or anything close to it. I just hadn't connected with it as a whole album. Certain songs on the album have always been bright lights for me, and over time other songs unlocked. But now I feel like the parts of the album that I'd sidelined are lighting up big time and I'm really appreciating it as a complete piece. And whew, imagine the journey you went on from 1992 to 1999 as a Tori fan.
Suede has been a favorite for a long time. I love how it takes a pretty intimate concept ("It's the dangerous games that we play with mind control -- the power of seduction, and how so many people put their hands up and say, "I didn't do anything," because they didn't fornicate.") and turns it into something so much bigger. It's like whatever is happening between these people, and whatever the ramifications are, it's elemental, it's an erotic thriller on a cosmic scale.
