Good morning. Any recommendations for solo dinners in Barcelona? Gothic Quarter adjacent please. I’m going with friends but I have a couple days by myself before they arrive.

Might not be at the Gothic Quarter (most places there are a bit overpriced and tourist scam), but quite close you have Cerveseria Catalana (Eixample) and Bar Bitacora (near Barceloneta), which are amazing. I travelled solo at the timee and had wonderful food in both.

Yeah why limit yourself to Gothic babes, just walk to other areas or snatch an Uber.

I'd suggest:

Tapeo de GraciaL’ Entrecôte
Barraca για paella
Gresca
Berbena
Bambarol
Olivos Comida y Vinos
La Mundana
Lluritu

Go to El Glop in Gracia for some fantastic rice dishes. Might be best to reserve in advance and it's better in a group, but it was always a reliable spot when I lived there.

Not sure how much traction this will get but I am going to LA for 5 nights in June and I'm looking for some not some obvious recommendations of places to see/things to do etc. I already know I want to see Britney's star on the walk of fame and hike up the Runyon but beyond that I am all ears for ideas, thank you!

I am a big fan of Salterio in the Gothic quarter. I did go there before the pandemic so just check to make sure they are still around.

Not too sure if I am responding too late but here is a list of tips and recommendations that I put together for Lisbon after my trip over over Thanksgiving last year: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxevgms6geb6rjs/Lisbon in a nutshell.docx?dl=0

One of the very first basic tips being about the cost of water in restaurants is funny to me. Of course restaurants are going to charge for bottled water, but if you just ask for a glass of (tap) water, that's free pretty much anywhere?

So here is the very strange part of this. When I ask for water in general, I am expecting a glass of tap water at these restaurants. I never actually ask for bottled water but by default, they would bring me one and charge me for it. Admittedly, that took me by surprise the first couple of times.

Has anyone been to Thailand? Specifically Chiang Rai? Looking for suggestions. Only there 1, possibly 2 nights
I was there maybe two or three nights a few years ago. I visited the white Buddhist temple, which was quite a popular tourist spot. It’s quite nice I suppose. I was on my way to Pai (which was lovely!) and stopped at Chiang Rai on the way.

Thank you! Yes the Wat Rong Khun is definitely on my list, it's more so I can make the most of the time I do have before flying home as I'd have been to Bangkok, Koh Pangnan, Khao Sok, Phi Phi, Phuket and Chiang Mai so I'd only have one or 2 days really

I'm planning a trip to Japan in May/June, never been before, it's on the bucket list. I'll likely be there for around 10 days, so if anyone has any must-see's/eats, or a suggested 10 day itinerary, I'd love to hear about them.
Just saw your post and don't know how far long you've been planning but you must not skip Nara Park and take some seflies with the deers.

You'll see them when you're on the way to the amazing Todaiji Temple, truly mindblowing experience. I miss Tokyo, very jealous. Kyoto's Golden Temple is beautiful too. Tokyo in general is amazing everywhere, the usual spots, Harujuku, Shibuya + Ginza and Ueno is a personal favorite of mine because it's a combination of the old and new.

I echo what @bestinase said to you, keep it to Tokyo + Osaka + Kyoto if you only have ten days. Once you go to Japan, you'll keep wanting to go back so leave the rest of the other cities you were planning to go next time.

Anyone experience with Eurostar customer service? If I want to call, it costs at least €10 and I don't feel like that.... And going through all kinds of forms is not pleasant either. I would like to email.

I travelled from London to Rotterdam Centraal on Monday 27 March 11:04 (local time). First 4.5h delay in London, with almost no communication and everything remained unclear till 10min before finally going. Then we couldn't go beyond Brussels and were denied boarding at Thalys (while on the Eurostar train it shouted that we could go there). Finally, in an overcrowded IC train from Brussels to Rotterdam, where the locomotive also broke down and another one hour and a half delay....
