Troye Sivan - Something to Give Each Other

"Silly" is one of the best songs on the album because it unintentionally (or not, who knows) samples (starting from minute 2:45) the 2020 Sanremo smasher by the famed Italian chanteuse Ms Elettra Lamborghini called Musica (e il resto scompare):

Is Troye innamorato di un altro cabrón too? That is the relevant question to ask here.

One listen in and it's a good album. I refused to let myself get excited even with the snippets sounding great but he really pulled through this time.

Talking to a friend of mine who lives where the album is already available and… even the so-called explicit version is still censored? Is it like this everywhere?

Hearing "popular culture iconography" said in an Australian accent for the first time..

That's how those words are pronounced?

Just read his apple music description of "One of Your Girls" - very similar to my own life story. Imma drop a tear!

Especially this part "....like I was expected to be there when they wanted me, then disappear when they freaked out, then be there again when they wanted. Like this emotionless object. And yet there I was time and time again. "

Damn. If y'all have ever stumbled across my extremely messy posts in the Dating & Relationships thread, y'all would know that I relate to this far too well.

I never thought that I'd find such a relatable song on a Troye Sivan album of all places.

The constand callback to the album title reminds of when people went "Gaga sings ARTPOP in Aura, the title track and then applause!!" idk why ddd. I'm only halfway done with it and... the slow songs do drag thins down, and I say that as someone who usually enjoy some of the more mellow moments like Talk Me Down and Heavenly Way To Die.

What's The Time Where You Are should be single instead of the Girls song.

The album is immaculately produced - it sounds rich, warm and sexy. I'm undecided on what I think about his vocal style though. I quite enjoy an intentionally bored "too cool for this" kind of delivery, but I'm not sure if that's what Troye is aiming for. His vocals certainly do not detract from anything, but I do want the vocalist to add something to their music dd

Overall, I really enjoyed it on my first listen so job well done.

The whole package of this new single is just…great. I would have preferred the whole thing in b&w but whatever. I love when pop straddles the line between silly and quite moving - there’s a goofiness to the Troye in drag reveal but then she’s also serving a bit of fashion model, and emoting like her life depends on it at the end. It’s an impactful visual, in a couple of ways.

Maybe Miss Sivan is beating the ASOS allegations?
