Based on the trailer, the story looks the same as the original though? Or am I missing something? Is this an actual sequel or just a remake?

Didn't they mention something about wanting to destroy a tornado? Or is my hearing worse than I thought?

Spiritial sequel, so the events of the first film still happened but there may not be a strong connection to this story. It's still just a film about tornados so I guess that's why it looks similar

I mean there's a movie about tornadoes and then there's this trailer which looks like it recreates all the scenes from the original. So unless it's a movie trailer just filled with a load of easter eggs and the story is actually something totally different... to me, it just looks like a remake.

This is sounding to me like the Flatliners remake, where they had Kiefer Sutherland cameo as his original character but otherwise seemed to pretend the events of the first film never happened.

At least this can't be any worse than that disaster...can it?

This all feels like a pointless exercise to bolster Glen's popularity, totally overlooking the fact he already is popular and deserves better material to work with.

$200 million budget for a non-franchised(ish) movie is pretty insane.

The dialogue is terrible, but I'm not there for an excellent screenplay. The actual disaster bits of the trailer look really intense and well done, which is all I'd hope for in a movie like this. Consider me sat!

Early reviews and impressions seem quite positive so far. Glen and Daisy getting rave reviews and seems to have that old school vibe that carried Top Gun: Maverick to a huge summer 2 years ago

I do hope this does well and we can see more disaster movies getting made again. Although preferably new ones and not remakes/reboots/sequels.
