Another one?...
We're finally getting above an average of 6
Some more old school Dannii?...
24. Get Into You - 6.03
The final cut from the Get Into You album released a mammoth 8 months after her previous single This Is The Way (I'm guessing due to her marriage breakdown). Say what you want about this song but she looked amazing in the video. It's hard not to notice the similarities with Janet Jacksons Black Cat here, and that wasn't missed on you guys judging by the commentary, but it's not a bad song. It just kinda felt like Dannii hadn't quite found her niche yet (that was saved for her next album). This single reached the dizzy heights of number 36 in the UK and number 79 in Australia.
Commentary
The kind of cheap jam I could see being played in some strip joint/pole dancing club in the American Midwest. That guitar riff is filthy and the chorus is a hot mess. Let me slut drop a bit.
@Mikey1701
This is Janet's Black Cat isn't it? And a couple of other songs thrown in for good measure.
@roblognick
I'm rating this one at first listen, I don't know how well she fits with the rock vibes. Also, another song I'd say sounds a bit dated for its time, but I gave it a 7 for sticking out in the Get Into You's singles run.
@Up Down Suite
What even am I listening to? Though it's not a very good song, I still gave it a few points more for actually being a bit of fresh air though during these dated disco tracks.
@Remorque
My first 10 in her discography. Absolute banger, she looks brilliant in the video too.
@AlmostFamous
Not my favourite of the singles from this album. Lame En Vogue rip off.
@SophiaSophia
Change of pace for Dannii with the guitars. Clearly "inspired by" En Vogues Free Your Mind I love this, although the club remix would probably have fared better on the charts.
@idratherjack
Amazing. I have said many times before, but...guitars always for the win!
@Sprockrooster
Dannii does Rock. Or En Vogue's definition of what rock sounds like. It just doesn't work and seems quite out of place in her discography.
@plasticFANTASTIC
Much preferred the club remix of this, but even then that didn't hide it from being the dud it really is. A dour end to her mostly unsuccessful era, and rightfully so. Thankfully we had THAT comeback in 4 years time to look forward to.
@WhatKindOfKylie?
Very Janet's Black Cat. get Into You is a very poor album, but the title track is far from the worst on it.
@Andsov
Another Dannii single from this era wearing it's "inspirations" on its forehead in neon lights. Again it's no match for the original.
@bichard
Danni x exorcism. Gotta love it.
@Txetxu
Slightly better than the bland new jack swing rubbish on the album.
@Rooneyboy
A bad Black Cat rip-off, and I'm not Black Cats biggest fan. Rock chick Dannii is a bit shit.
@Booers
Those guitars took a giant dump on this song.
@One Stop Candy Shop
Black Cat a bit, Dannii. Not too much though as people could get scared.
@Ray
I can't give this a huge score as at the time I loathed this with a passion and didn't want guitars anywhere near Dame Dannii. However, as a strut anthem to be played while one is mincing around Waitrose, it does work very well.
