UK Entry 2025

It feels a little rude that we're at Feb 18th, peak Eurovision selection season, and just radio silence. Obviously the act and song are finalised, could the beeb not at least attempt to whip up some excitement for Eurovision 2025?

Just crumbs from podcasts and twitter-twats making stuff up. Frustrating!

Smacks a little of our 'dark days'.

Yeah this announcement isn't any different to Sam or Mae, if anything we have had a couple more leaks/interviews/mentions compared to them. Olly was of course different due to his big name.

Based on those two, would be predicting an announcement on Thurs 6th March!

he/him/his
I don‘t understand why a lot of countries decide to reveal their acts at the start of or mid March. You share all the headlines with others.

Look at France last year, they even revealed their song in November 23 and it still came fourth.

I think there's a fear of peaking too soon. There's always a risk of losing momentum if you put the song out in January. And ratings at home is also as important as points.

I feel like the BBC can't win sometimes. Last year they gave us a super early artist reveal, details of the song and a clip, and then when the full song came out everyone was underwhelmed. So can we blame them for thinking it's better not to tease this year? Plus we don't know whether the leak has upset any plans.

Yeah Sam wasn't until 10th of March, and people were moaning about the silence that year too. The entry is the entry whether it's revealed in January, February or March.

UK finally deciding to reveal its entry on May 26th

Date of reveal vs final results will I'm certain show absolutely no correlation. As mentioned, France early last year, Sam Ryder late, an everything in-between. Dizzy would have had the same reaction whenever it was released.

I'd just like to know when it's coming, it doesn't really matter when. It's 2024 being the last updates across all BBC platforms I'm finding annoying.

Yes the early teasing wasn’t the issue for Olly. It was more the expectation of a massive pop hit number 1 not being delivered on.

Early March is quite normal for the uk reveal as people above have said.

Expect it the week after next, and if it's earlier than that then you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Everyone was underwhelmed with Dizzy because Dizzy wasn't very good.

Het Groote Songfestivalfeest is confirmed for Friday 7th March. 23:40 BBC One, with an episode of Graham Norton on before.

Strongest clue that we can expect a reveal on Thursday 6th on Scott Mills, or at least the few days running up to it?

Shame it looks like just a best-of compilation of the current series of Graham Norton so unlikely to have any connection to Eurovision beyond a clip from when Olly was on

Assume like last year it will be a song reveal on the Thursday on radio (ready for a Friday release) and a BBC One special on Thursday via One Night or Graham sitdown interview like Olly had. And then on the back off that the Eurovision concert Friday night to build off the hype.

Ok so as we should hear the UK entry in the next 2 weeks, any predictions on what the song may be like?

Eurotrip podcast suggests:

- It’ll showcase big live vocals
- It is not a novelty song and not dance pop
- It has a stand out moment

I find it interesting because there is clearly a market (small though mighty it may be) for the gossip and conjecture around the UK selection, but those in charge never seem to really capitalize on it. Which means you’ve got the general public, who is at best ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about the whole thing, and the true blue fans, who are pissed off that nothing is happening.

You can’t please everybody all of the time, why not try to at least please somebody some of the time!
