UK Ladies Not #1s of '00s Rate | Winners Crowned

6.png

Welcome my friends! We're looking back at the 2000s UK Charts once again! Last time we crowned Girls Aloud's Sound Of The Underground as the winner of the '00s #1s Rate. And since then they started the celebrations of their debut single and album, gifting us with an Alternate Vocal Mix version of the classic. Coincidence? I don't think so!

Now it's time to give the deserved credit to the songs that almost made it to the summit, the classics that didn't get the official gold medal, but nonetheless became fan favorites (well, some more than others).

So which songs are included in this rate?

1) It peaked at #2 or #3 in the UK according to the Official Charts between January 1st of 2000 and December 31st of 2009.

2) It has at least one British lady providing the main vocals.

3) The version included here is the one that officially got #1.

4) I excluded choirs and collectives.

We'll have a bonus round where the songs that did not reach the top 3 at all in the charts will get their chance to shine and will be rated as well!

1) Score each and every song between 0-10. One song, your favorite, can receive an 11.
I will accept one decimal place (7.8 or 7.9 are ok, 7.25 will be rounded to 7.3).

2) Provide commentary if you want! Not required, but welcome!

3) No trolling! I know some artists here are not your favorites, but judge the songs themselves!

Suggested deadline
Submit your votes and commentary to @saviodxl and @berserkboi via PM.

Submissions close 22nd of July

Let's celebrate also the songs that did not make it to the top 3 of the Official Charts at all! It's the people's choice.
Here's how it's gonna work:

- You can vote for 1 to 5 songs
- The songs have to be performed predominantly by one or more British lady. If she or they are the featured artist, it counts as well! But they have to be credited.
- The songs were released between 01/01/2000 and 31/12/2009
- They did not reach the top 3 according to the Official Charts. They peaked between #4 and #100. Songs that did not chart in the top 100 in the UK are not eligible unfortunately. I will be checking!
- Don't vote multiple times for the same song. I will count only one vote.
- Maximum of 2 songs per artist on your ballot.

The most voted songs will be revealed and rated. Will not get a specific number of songs yet, but not so many, because the main rate songlist is already quite long!

VOTE FOR YOUR BONUS ROUND SONGS HERE

PART 1: Voting for the songs
Deadline: June 9th

Participation in the bonus round, selection of songs (Part 1), is optional.

Participation in the bonus round, the rating of the songs (Part 2), is also optional. If you did not participate in the selection of the songs, you can still rate them.

PART 2: Rating the most voted songs
Deadline: same as main round

She/Her
Does Róisín Murphy qualify for this rate? I'd like to nominate "Let Me Know" for the bonus round, but she's Irish and the rules say "The song has at least one British lady." But then I think Sinead Quinn is Irish? And I know Duffy is Welsh.

If Róisín does count, Moloko's "The Time Is Now" went #2 in 2000, so maybe should be in the main rate?

Sinead is from Northern Ireland. She qualifies.

Roisin doesn't, sorry :(

The version of One For Sorrow (re)released in 2001 was actually this one:

Even that feels like reaching since it was originally a 1999 release, but the one linked to definitely doesn't belong here.
(And a 'Tony Moran Mix' tag to the title wouldn't hurt either)
