UK Politics: General Despondency

I've spent most of this week with a nagging thought in the back of my mind to take a look at what's going on in France as it seems really important and I've wondered why it's not getting much coverage on mainstream news. Today it's leading every bulletin, but only because King Charles has cancelled a visit there? Why would I care about that, tell me what the protests are about...

What's worse is the BBC report went on to have a good 5 minutes discussing the relationship between Charles and Macron, how important the visit would have been ahead of the coronation and, most sinister of all, 'how Macron can gain control of the situation'. What if he's in the wrong?

I still need to educate myself more to formulate an opinion on what's going on but it's absolutely depressing how politics is so often presented to us as parlour games being played by elites.

He/They
Aren't they protesting because Marco forced through through increase in retirement age?
Off with his head (I wish we'd follow suite)

FUCK OFFFFFFFF

Okay, like, wow.

I cannot even imagine the levels of rage you all must be feeling. That quote actually made my spine tingle in the bad way. It's so dystopian. Thankfully there's that parliamentary system, so there's still hope to get him the fuck out before he stands a chance at real power. But like... Maggie praise is like antithetical to the entire mission statement of Labour, yes? I can't really think of an accurate analogy for this in the US but the it just seems off.

The man is STUPID

Being an MP should be a full time job. It's absolute bullshit they continue to get away with this and it's all considered normal and fine. We need a complete reform of the system.
Exactly. I honestly cannot imagine my employer being okay with me taking on a second job when I’m supposed to be working full-time, unless it was some passion project I did during my evenings and weekends.

The whole Kwasi conversation is a total lol-athon. And this man was in charge of the UK economy.

They've very clearly been advised that calling Jeremy anti semitic would be libelous so they've had to literally go with 'he lost us seats so can't run again'

All this while they're plugging candidates around the country with failed records in multiple seats but still feeling OWED a seat
