Dear @Crisp X, thank you for your wonderfully diverse ballot. Not only highlighting deep cuts from iconic artists (Hollywood, Losing Grip, Can't Speak French, In It To Win It, and Sanctuary? *chef's kiss*) but also exposing me to some quality stuff from rock bands with Linkin Park's, Seether's and School Food Punishment's tracks ending up amongst my favourite discoveries.

HEAVEN | DJ SAMMY & YANOU FEAT. DO

Voted By: @livefrommelbs (18) @Ezz (6)
Year: 2002
Country of Origin: Spain & Germany feat. Netherlands

livefrommelbs commentary:
Fun fact for you all - I don't remember the Bryan Adams version before I heard this. So when DO's heavenly voice soared through my speakers with that first chorus, this felt like an original song - not a dance cover. And it was PERFECTION to my ears. I've always loved the trance beat, and there's no denying Miss Adams gave DJ Sammy, Yanou and DO an iconic lyric and hook to build a dance track around.

I'm sure I've said this before, but name a more iconic final minute of a song...the absolute taste @livefrommelbs !

UP | THE SATURDAYS

Voted By: @Runawaywithme (9) @Ezz (8) @saviodxl (7)
Year: 2008
Country of Origin: England
Appearance: 2nd

Runawaywithme Commentary:
A pop masterpiece. This song had my nine-year-old self in an absolute chokehold. From the second I saw it on 4Music after school I was completely and utterly obsessed. You can imagine my horror when I heard the album edit for the first time when I got Chasing Lights - I made my poor mum run back out into town and buy me the CD single which to everyone relief had the far superior siren-fulled single mix. This song remains an absolute blast and whenever I’m drunk I usually demand that it gets played. I then make everyone watch me do the choreography.

saviodxl commentary:
If This Is Love, their debut single, was a cute girl, but it was here that we fully realised these girls could deliver dance pop bangers in such a fun and unpretentious way. I absolutely love the early days concept of each one having an assigned color in the most Power Rangers style and the choreography, with the chorus starting with a twisted wave. I accidentally slapped people in the clubs when trying to recreate the moves. Pop moves can be dangerous!

BLACK & GOLD | SAM SPARRO

Voted By: @WowWowWowWow (16) @4Roses (5) @Untouchable Ace (3)
Year: 2008
Country of Origin: Australia

WowWowWowWow Commentary:
Disappointing that Sam never again reached the same heights as he was at during this song’s run in the hitparade, but very appreciative of the fact that he is still out there on the grind.

4Roses Commentary:
Synth heaven, also the soundtrack to the best (and only good) scene in 2009's Fame.
