This should've been Top 20 at least. Thank you @Sprockrooster for voting for it also. I'd love to hear Anastacia do a cover.

Twenty-plus years later and it still sounds like it’s from the future. I was not expecting this to earn my maximum points, but it’s a brilliantly constructed song that never fails to please an audience, so it deserves its spot.

sfmartin commentary:
What to say about this sexy behemoth? It is frighteningly perfect. Seductive, ferocious and ever so slightly terrifying. She sounds sensational throughout, truly unique and inimitable. Those breathy vocals, moans and giggles send shivers down the spine. Add to that such sinister, electrifying blippy bloopy production by Danja. The song demands your attention from the first second and takes you on a captivating journey. It sounds like a strip club set in a haunted mansion. I adore the use of the spooky chopped vocals throughout the song, like a chorus of horny ghosts.

livefrommelbs commentary:
Complicated, Girlfriend, Losing Grip, My Happy Ending - they're all up there as far as my favourite 00s Avril tracks go, but I'm With You is the one. That she was only a TEENAGER when she wrote this is just wild to me. I love the way it starts with such fragility and vulnerability, gradually building in emotion until the big 'Yeah-ee-yeah!' middle 8 that Ms. Avril just sings the absolute shit out of. The whole thing is so powerfully emotive and poignantly sung. A true 00s classic.

The magical moment when they played I'm With You during my first school disco and the other kids were confused cause they only knew the Polish version by Ewa Farna... I felt smug, I tell you!

Time for me to post my ballot too. I checked and there's only like 3 songs on it that can be considered a bop. Maybe the Radio 2 Mum was me all along!

Yas. Proving how underrated of a songwriter she is right from the get-go. Almost won Avril Lavigne Rate #1, I bet it would've if these three had voted back then. Depends on how their score compares to "Rock n Roll", which was considered one of the biggest shock victories in the early days of when the forum had an explosion of new rates.

Complicated and Girlfriend are easily her most well-known songs and biggest hits, but I'd struggle to give either of them a score above a 6 today. (Over-play killed those and not most of her material)
