This was so incredibly difficult. Mine also feels quite thrown together but I tried to capture the songs of the 00s that will forever be iconic to me, as opposed to the songs I'm revisiting the most at the moment. It's also VERY singles heavy cause I am gee pee at heart.

Some absolute classics that I had to cut at the last minute:

My final 5 cuts:

I have seen her been cut of several times now so I hope someone did find place for her: Aaliyah - Rock The Boat. Rock the Boat is that sultry late night sweat summerjam that also is very light on the ears and she was defining the R&B-genre for me in those early 00's.

More R&B comes in the form of Alicia Keys which also defined my 00's R&B-loving. She is however featured in the albumranking, but with songs I just had so many things to pick from. But if I had to go with my favourite it has to Pray For Forgiveness, which was cut for being more of a 10's song to me as it defined my stay in Malawi. It was however blocked to be entered in the 10's countdown as it was released the 28th of December 2009...

Another woman I surprisingly cut from my list is ADELE with Hometown Glory. Maybe it is the geographer me, but I am easily attached to songs that highlight your local space. It is still her signature song from her for me, because it get's close to home for me.

When push comes to shove it is easier for me te cut men for my top 20 than women. So many final cuts involve men and especially the R&B-genre (Usher however never came close). Mario's Here I Go Again with that rocky edge was also cut soon, likewise with Chingy's One Call Away. However Bobby Valentino's - Tell Me came darn close. I just love that jam and pretended he was talking about a man's ass (he is not). Yes in my teens one of my crushes.

Hardest men to cut however is not necessarily someone I stan hard for, but has written one of the best songs of the 00's - especially for a closeted Sprocky: Daniel Merriweather - Red. A modern protest song that doesn't hold back but uses metaphors for a war that you are fighting within yourself. It just gives me the chills every damn time.

So 5 tracks per day is the pace I'm planning to keep the reveals at until we reach, say top 100? Is that fine with y'all?

I'm also updating a Spotify playlist in the 2nd post on the 1st page and I will be making a YouTube one for unavailable entries.

Edit: I can confirm there are several surprising results in store, and many, many classics overlooked but I'm staying hush hush for #suspense
