Who else would have Atreyu, Ladytron, Allison Iraheta, Perfume, Girls Aloud, Three Days Grace, and Vanessa Carlton on the same list? I've got issues ddd.
Or what I would call a diverse taste, which is something that applies to all three ballots revealed today.

But if only y'all would allow me to geek out at all the little connections between the three... Naturally, everyone's last song standing was Ace Reject but also @DJHazey & @Untouchable Ace matched on Untouchable (funny how two of some of the best 00s songs are called Untouchable and Untouched, my highly sensitive autistic self can truly relate!) and had their 7-pointers' titles beginning with "Into The", I....
Then again, Ace and @Aester matched on Some Girls and both had Luke Steele (of The Sleepy Jackson and Empire of the Sun) on their ballots, while Aester and Hazey both placed an Annie song in their top 2! Not that all the overlaps are particularly weird since we're on PopJustice after all, but still very satisfying to my pattern-seeking sucker of a brain. Now let me play Bad Times, Good Dancers, and Spiral in succession and ascend!

HUNG UP | MADONNA

saviodxl commentary:
How many women in their 40s plus do you see storming the charts these days? Back in the day it was no different, but for a queen, the impossible becomes possible. And only a queen could get it right with a sample from another royal pop act like Madonna did with ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme! This song was on the radio literally ALL THE TIME in 2005 and I couldn't get enough of it. A great addition to her long list of classics.

sfmartin commentary:
This song is difficult to judge because it was such a humongous track but I had to have some representation of Confessions on a Dancefloor. Everything this song sets out to do it accomplishes in abandon. A total departure from her previous work in the 00s. Unashamedly dance/pop/disco magnificence. Expertly crafted. Stuart Price worked wonders with Madonna. The relentless energy he injected into this record dripping from every pore. It rightfully took over the world.

CALL THE SHOTS | GIRLS ALOUD

Voted By:
@Lost In Japan. (20) @Ugly Beauty (19) @Runawaywithme (18) @4Roses (14) @saviodxl (13)
Year: 2007
Country of Origin: England
Appearance: 14th

saviodxl commentary:
Out of their well polished pop songs, this is probably the best. It's the song that got me into them! Those "ah ah"s that reverberate in the chorus are top notch pop. Classy Europop, like these girls knew how to do! I'd cut a finger out to have the experience of listening to this track for the first time again and feel like floating on air.

4Roses Commentary:
Xenomania's shimmering production, each member nailing their contribution, Nicola's heavenly bridge. I wish all pop was this good.

Runawaywithme Commentary:
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. This song has been there for me at some of my absolute darkest times - and has always managed to make me feel better no matter how dark things are around me. Nicola’s middle-eight never fails to make me tear up. It feels like the heavens opening up and taking you in.

Call The Shots was my #21 and perhaps a more strategic cutoff. The song will never get old. Also alongside Madonna's Get Together one of my favourite songs ever that nobody in my inner circle in real life appreciate. So imagine my surprise I was not alone in stanning these tracks after joining this forum proving you are my kind of people.

COOL | GWEN STEFANI

Voted By:

saviodxl commentary:
Grab 80s Madonna's and Cyndi Lauper's balladesque elements, mix with with new wave, add a pinch of sparkling synths and you have Cool. Almost a follow up to Don't Speak, but this time at least the broken up couple is in good terms. And so are we with this pop magic that Gwen created.

4Roses Commentary:
A song which represents the meaning of real LOVE. Love isn't always about being "IN LOVE" sometimes its acceptance, letting go and even just maturity. Ugh, Gwenth we miss you!
