Okay, so I was only able to get like 67% done, but right now yourentryfavorite song on the list has points.
I hope I have points too...

I'm sure my psychic connection (who still has no idea who I am) will appreciate the points!

There are people who don't know who you are? I thought your reputation would precede you by now.
I'd love to have given you both points, so I'm hoping you came through with the bops.
But they never like my posts, even when I quote them!
Perhaps they see you as less of a psychic connection and more of an evil twin.
I missed the reveal for this (I usually get an alert!), only saw it in the 9-pointers just now.... @iheartpoptarts, yes definitely check out some more HoJo...either the 1993 "Best Of" (with the dark blue soft-focus sleeve) or the 2002 "Very Best Of" (with the white sleeve) are excellent starting points.
Thanks, I've got the blue one and your fave on my phone now! (And with that, my Spotify downloads are full again... 2017 is hard, etc.)
Randomly enough, I had the 80s station on the other day and I just had to look up this total bop I'd never heard before and it turned out to be 'Things Can Only Get Better', so I think I'm going to like this!
Things... raised my hopes for his 2nd album, it promised a slightly more sparkling take on the Human's Lib formula....still a bit spooky and ethereal, but catchy as hell. Sadly, the rest of Dream Into Action was a crushing disappointment. He needed to take more time over the follow-up. I suppose WEA wanted to cash-in as much as they could, but The 12" Album had only been released two months earlier. It was overkill and the material just wasn't really there.
Awwww, well, I didn't put that one on my phone, anyway!
Things.... was the single which sealed the deal for him in America, pretty much. The early singles had grazed the Billboard Top 40, but that one went Top 10 and probably appealed to their glass-half-full approach to life.
Looks like it in Canada, too!
Imagine if WEA had resisted the temptation to rush out The 12" Album, and had allowed HoJo time to add songs of the quality of Like To Get To Know You Well, Things Can Only Get Better, No One Is To Blame and Why Look For The Key. They'd also have still had the amazing Always Asking Questions in the can, and that's half an album right there. All 10/10 songs.
I've still got a lot to learn, but 'Like To Get To Know You Well' is amazing! Like, if Ace of Base were around in the 80s, I imagine they'd sound a bit like that.
Ha, at the time he was accused of ripping off Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc.
There were also rumblings that New Song was a little too close to Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill.....
