@Hazey's Mom (5th Movie) - This was a welcomed surprise when we all watched it for the first time on a whim one New Years Eve (we always rent like 4 movies for the evening) - this had my Mom and I in tears laughing. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised considering the cast: Kevin Hart, The Rock Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Nebula <3 Karen Gillan, and even Nick Jonas too. I mean, talk about being stacked to the brim with talent! I was never fussed about the original (I don't even remember it) so I was like "okay whatever, we can watch this" but we all agree it was an instant classic and has seen it twice since. The hilarity still holds up! The particular scene of amazingness is Karen Gillan (a shy girl in 'real life' but in a confident babe's body being coached by the popular girl in Jack Black's body on how to attract guys aka the bad guys to distract them and she has no clue = rofl)

I remember watching Adventures in Babysitting religiously for a few months when I was young during the holidays. Wonderful teen movie!

And when at uni we went to watch 28 Days Later in the cinema not knowing a single thing about the movie, so those first fifteen minutes were... something. Poor the girls who hated horror and had to endure that. I was living!

@DJHazey (8th Movie) - I mentioned during the Dodgeball writeup how I loved me some Ben Stiller comedies and I'd have to say this is the gold standard. My mind will always go to There's Something About Mary too, as both are usually listed 1-2 by any comedy fans, since they define this era in the genre. I've probably seen it oh I don't know 25 to 30 times now in my life, or at least good chunks of it over and over. I could quote so many scenes but you (hopefully) all know them anyway. I will say that the scene when Stiller and De Niro are sitting at the red light, both knowing that they want to be the first back to the house to either expose or cover up the Jinxy Cat Scandal, and they're pretending to street race. Me and my Dad always do that now whenever we happen to see each other around town in our cars. It's just a classic in every way possible.

Loved seeing Happy Death Day, here! I watch a YouTube video essayist (LadyKnightTheBrave), and I will watch anything I see that they make an essay about. Of course, I want to watch said topic movie before watching their essays. As such, The Happy Death Day movies weren't really on my radar, but I moved them up my queue so I could get caught up on their channel! After watching them & her essay... I was hooked.

Arguments can be made for what the someone thinks the greatest Disney film is of all-time. I tend to divide them into eras. For the 'classic Walt-era', nothing comes close to Pinocchio in my mind (maybe Fanstasia, but that movie is a different animal)

There are parts of Pinocchio that are just art. The backgrounds, the camera angles, the character design, Just wow. Snow White was groundbreaking, but when you watch Pinocchio right after it, it's almost hard to believe the artistic leaps the company made in the art form of animation in such a short time. Blows my mind, to this day.

5 | @DJHazey (9th Movie) - Ahh, yes boy do we need to a re-watch because all the nitty-gritty details of this and the great sequel as well has left me but this the definition of 'good fun' in a movie. It always keeps you guessing, on the edge of your seat, and the pace of it was fluid. I was a history major in college so that helps too. There's a lot of fun interplay between the main cast too. Basically it's the ultimate treasure hunt, but with historical landmark edge to it and Nicolas Cage plays a historical expert with a ton of charm and wit. It saddens me to see such a low Metascore but I'm not surprised, but I wouldn't let it detract you from giving it a shot some weekend if you trust in my taste! Especially @Sprockrooster, if you and your boyfriend haven't seen this yet, do it yesterday!

Other People is such a beautiful, underrated gem. Pleasant surprise seeing that pop up.
So happy to see it getting some love in the thread even if it didn't get any other votes! The main storyline with the mother absolutely wrecks me every time (Drops of Jupiter has never been the same since) but it's also a great movie about the gay experience.

Chris Kelly, who directed it, is also responsible for my favourite new TV show of recent years (The Other Two).

Speaking of gay af movies, I know it's not looked upon as fondly now as it was on release but Call Me By Your Name is just so beautiful - both the locations and the actual film dd. Timothée is so talented and there are so many little moments in there that feel so honest and real, like the scene where Elio dances with his friends just close enough for Oliver to notice him.

I love how many of you and your mom/dad or your parents' movies match up, Hazey!
