Ironic that Weekend and...that other film are right after each other!

Weekend has actually been on my watchlist for the longest time, I really need to watch it!
Did something happen with CMBYN?
Not at all, I just found CMBYN to be a bit of a betrayal. Sanitised, repackaged, and repurposed to appeal largely to a heterosexual audience.
Lots of the queerness eroded, to the point where we were treated to a straight sex scene in all its glory but the pivotal same sex scene pans tastefully to a window.

BUT, I would never drag anyone’s engagement with a piece of art. It just didn’t work for me.
Arguments can be made for what the someone thinks the greatest Disney film is of all-time. I tend to divide them into eras. For the 'classic Walt-era', nothing comes close to Pinocchio in my mind (maybe Fanstasia, but that movie is a different animal)

Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi and Fantasia are top 4 imo. Fantasia would be #1, but not every sequence is great. I never liked Snow White as much.

I also *love* their Silly Symphony short films before they made features, some amazing early animation.

@DJHazey (10th Movie) - I know anything Eminem-related on this forum is considered a mess, but this movie is undeniably brilliant, come on. I've seen it like 40 times by now so there's no way it's not on my list. Yes, Eminem has gone on to do a lot of questionable things over the years, but it's easy to forget that he was once an underdog. The film highlights that point so you really want him to overcome because of everything pushing against him in his life. Every freestyle rap scene is something that I could watch on a loop forever but especially when Eminem slays in the final one; that's tip-top cinema right there.

That's all I got for today, sorry. I'm going to be pretty busy the rest of the work day trying to get things done before leaving for a doctor's appt. That plus I'm going to be visiting some family for the early-Holidays over the weekend (socially distanced of course), so I'll be getting back to the rest of the other 16 films at 15 points on Monday, most likely. It's always good for rate hosts to take scheduled breaks anyway, trust me but at least I'll always keep you up to date. xx
The Weekend broke my heart so much when I watched it, I don't know if I could put myself through that again. I'm such a softie when it comes to movies!
Really need to see Julie & Julia! Another on the watch list.

Pride feels very 'British' in that it's feel-good in almost a cheesy way, and was never going to be an Oscar contender, but delivers great performances from acting legends (Imelda Staunton! Bill Nighy!)

The whole theme of solidarity between queer people and other disenfranchised groups is ever relevant, and the ending Pride March through London as 'There is Power in a Union' plays makes me WEEP.
