Ace Attorney might be a good bet for you, can't recommend that series enough. And having played Danganronpa, I would definitely say they would scratch the same itch.

Ai: The Somnimu Files is the good one too, however, there are some puzzles but they are not complicated as in Zero escape games, they are just a bit random.
However, I think it pays off to play Zero escape games because the story is just next level.
Ace Attorney series is definitely the most obvious answer, but here are some more, all very different games but all great:
Ace Attorney-esque game set in the US in the early 90s (does have a picross element but that's a bit different from the usual mystery game puzzles)
Crime/Mystery Otome
Fantastical murder mystery adventure
This one's pretty trippy and the closest to Danganronpa gameplay-wise
Not about crime solving but rather about creating a perfect crime
Honourable mention to Return of the Obra Dinn and the Sherlock Holmes series, which are excellent but not really visual novel-esque.

Thinking of getting a Switch Lite soon. Anyone got any good recommendations for games? Other than Pokemon of course.

I’m still not convinced. Sonic in an open world game just doesn’t seem like a good idea.
I could see it working if the open world is just a hub via which you get to linear stages, but otherwise...
This is such an overwhelming question at this point, but my favorite Switch games for solo experience are probably: Persona 5 (!!!!!!), Mario Rabbids (you probably can get the first one for dirt cheap in late November and it's well worth it, the DLC is phenomenal too), Spiritfarer, Animal Crossing, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Cliche recommendation but Super Mario Odyssey is a must if you're picking up a Switch. Although I haven't played them yet, I hear Bravely Default II, Shin Megami Tensei 5, and Octopath Traveler are great choices for those who want deep and difficult turn-based JRPG experiences.
