Video Games

@Jonathan27 and @enjoy Elden Ring girlies help me!!! I restarted the game a couple of weeks ago and explored the world, did stormveil castle and managed to take out the first boss quite easily. It's been super fun, I love it. But I don't know if my stat spread is fucked or if I'm underleveled, but I feel like everything I do is a fucking struggle. I'm trying to go to the with academy so I can win that boss fight to be able to re-spec. But I just can't at these glintstone pebbles oh my god. What level were you when you explored that part of Limgrave? Because I feel like even exploring in Limgrave is hard. Maybe this game just isn't for me *sad face*
I’ve forgotten like the whole thing because it was one big fever dream, but I definitely spent hours online reading guides, watching videos, and planning my build. I went for magic and dexterity (I think that’s the name in the game), and I think it made everything a lot easier. I needed range attacks so I could get some hits and run away like a true sissy.

Late to this and feel free to take other's suggestions but I was able to strong arm most of the game using this as a general basis:

He glazes over some of the more difficult stretches of the early build (that labyrinth in the first area of the game was the hardest part I swear) but I was able to get to where I felt strong after 1-2 sessions of knocking this stuff out. The reduvia blood dagger did wonders and because it's a special weapon it maxes at +10 instead of +25, cannot recommend enough. I spammed black flame for basically all of the game when in doubt and focused on my arcane + vigor mostly. I promise there's no way you're hand-eye coordination is any worse than mine, you got this sis!

Thanks for this! I actually have that dagger. I think my stats are fucked. I haven't put enough points into vigor and I'm so damn fragile.

Since I'm a faith/melee build (kind of? why I am always trying hybrid builds when I suck at these things) build I use black flame most of the time, I do love incantations and I am really enjoying the dragon ones. I was at first thinking about going a faith/arcane build to really maximise bleed and dragon incantations. But I kind of wanna try out the intelligence sorcery because I haven't tried anything other in this game than faith.

Right now I'm level 42 (and I'm most certain my stats are not well spread) and I've ended up at the first mini boss in the academy, that red wolf and I'm getting pulverized. And yes @leeroy I've explored those parts south of Stormveil!

@enjoy here are my stats at lvl 42. Maybe intelligence sorcery and dexterity would be fun? I don't know I think I would like some kind of casting/melee hybrid build, which maybe is unforgiving early to mid game. I'm thinking either sorcery/dex or incantations/arcane.

Vigor 15
Mind 18
Endurance 13
Strength 12
Dexterity 13
Intelligence 10
Faith 28
Arcane 13

I think the progress so far has been a lot of luck + spamming black flame ddd. @theelusivechanteuse maybe doing sorcery/dex is a good thing for me because I spend most of my fights running around seeking cover and screaming like I've just seen a ghost. Will do some more online research. But whew the game is addicting!!

If you haven’t used the wiki, then definitely head there - there’s a really useful progress route which gives you an idea of where you should be going and around what level you need to be to handle the area - it has a full walkthrough also but if you want avoid spoilers it’s still fairly easy to just see the route you need to take without reading the detail!

But also remember, there isn’t a wrong way of playing the game! You can try any build you want, just level up a bit and you’ll be fine!

Ok take my recommendations with a huge amount of salt as i have never committed to a full of faith build, if you are going for a full on strength / faith paladin esque type of character

-Don't put your points in intelligence, leveling up faith and vigor should be your priority. Do level up vigor when you are feeling like you are stuck. Late game you will need everything you can find for sure nn.

-I think your Mind is ok for now as it doesn't really help with your survival. I would honestly aim for a 20 vigor / 30 faith if i were you at this point. The other points after you max your main two stats (faith at 60, vigor at 40 minimun is needed in the late game areas, if you don't want to be one shotted and use some really powerful incantatios) should go between strength (so that you can wield some of the subclasses best weapons & endurance if you want to wear heavier armor sets)

-Black flame and all of the other black flame incantations are really good, you can also get powerful early - mid game incantions through the dragon church. Asfaik, faith based spells are more in the defensive side of things in early to mid game and you will start to have some powerful offensive incantations as you progress.

-If you are feeling like you are playing a build you are not having fun, perservere through Liurnia and do the region's main boss, Rennala. After beating her you will unlock re-spec ability using an item called Larval Tear.

It has been a hot minute since i have played the game so idk if they are nerfed or what, but bleed builds and weapons helped me terrorize every breathing creature in Lands of Between in my first playthrough. My second character was a full on squishy mage that could melt everyone if she was left alone for a second. These two classes are (or were) pretty powerful thankful to op spells, weapon arts and weapons. And it comes with time both in game and outside of the game looking for guides. Good luck!

PS: The sword of night and flame is an op sword. If you can get it in the Caria Manor area (a major dungeon in Liurnia) it will help you rip everything to shred nn)

Thanks guys! I will do some further research on builds and commit on it moving forward, will focusing on more vigor to get it to 20!

Maybe the real silksong is all the friends we made along the way.

Though Hollow Knight being the current free trial game on the Switch makes me think we might be getting something.

Yeah I agree with @enjoy. I’d focus on faith and black flame for now and then respec later. I used black flame a ton in early game too. There are some decent beast ones too, like one that sends a bunch of homing bugs or something (nn I forget). And then the big dragon rot incantation.
