After this nightmare of an election, I feel like I have to put Metaphor: ReFantazio aside for awhile. It hits too close to home. I will still finish Tales of Arise, but I feel like I need the lightest RPG ever to still have motivation to play games. Any recommendations?

I am so glad I opted to finish getting the platinum in Skylanders: Imaginators last night. It really lifted my spirits enough to go to sleep.

Yeah same.....I'm going back to Yakuza 7. Just need something more lighthearted and stupid to take my mind off all this.

Honestly if you enjoy the management elements I'd recommend Potionomics, the story/social elements are quite JRPG-esque and very whimsical, lighthearted and wholesome, it kinda left me with the same feeling as Persona, that it's a shame you don't get to spend morre time with these characters. Or if you want an actual RPG, have you played Paper Mario and The Origami King? That's the lightest one I can think of. Can't go wrong with something from the Atelier series either.

Started Planet Coaster 2 and the scenery themes available are such a bizarre mixed bag, and there are some frustrating bugs that make it unplayable occasionally. Just like with Planet Zoo, the power and water aspects are... annoying, it's not really what you want to invest time in on a theme park sim.

That aside, some of the new features really are a godsend and it looks beautiful on the PS5. Plays much smoother than the original did too.

I’m in the last 3 days of Metaphor Refantazio with 180 hours clocked and it absolutely stole game of the year for me in a landslide. The parallels to real life, the tightened up gameplay loop of battles and overworld combat, the visual flourishes. Everything just snapped together perfectly.

I only have qualms with about two small story bits in Metaphor that I chalk up to either being rewrites or frankly asspulls that hinder it from being perfect, but yes, the best RPG this year I fear!

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio

Damn, that
second Louis battle, the one at Grand Trad, is fucking difficult. I barely pulled through by constantly using the hit/evasion debuff to make him miss but there's a lot of RNG involved.

the general row buffs, dekunda any time he applied his debuff to someone and keeping his attack debuffed 3 stacks made that fight a non event for me, though yeah RNG still came in clutch, if he happened to hit a weakness, his additional turns always got cancelled out by a miss LOL.
My party was MC/Strohl/Hulk/Bas

Mine was MC/Strohl/Hulk/Hies. I'm that player who never wants to switch to new characters once I have my team.

If Final Fantasy XVI rises to almost movie quality much of the time in terms of storytelling, Metaphor: ReFantazio much of the time reaches the quality of a deep, considered fantasy novel.

I'm the same way usually, but I think that's the beauty of the Archetype system, you can kinda just dump MAG into whoever you wish to catch up.

Unless it's vanilla FF7.... In which as soon as I can get Yuffie, she's stuck in the party with Barret unless there are mandatory switches XD

Sea of Stars got a major update today with a revamped prologue, new combat mechanics, co-op and a bunch of other things. The game never quite clicked for me originally, and guess this is the perfect opportunity to give it another shot. Thankfully I only put like three hours into it, so starting again is no big deal.
