Is Ninja Gaiden 2 Black not a bit random? Why not the 1st game?

In any case, I’ll look forward to 4, but I don’t think I managed to finish the 2nd game and never played the 3rd due to the difficulty level!

Right it's exciting as a fan of the original series to see NGII get some love but also there's still no way to play the original Ninja Gaiden Black without having a physical copy of the game and an Xbox/360/Xbox One to run it on (and Black didn't release in Australia so I'd have to import a PAL copy from the UK). Hoping to see Ninja Gaiden Black on Steam whether it's a Unreal Engine 5 remaster or even just the original.
The Sigma games DON'T count because they're terrible and they made my man look ridiculous.

This is something a bit nerdier than regular out of the box console stuff, but I’ve had my eye on the market of FPGA/MiSTER devices for a few years now, but they’ve generally been outrageously expensive for a while now due to low supply of components and high demand (£300~).

They’re essentially small, retro focused emulation devices, based on a specific type of development board which, thanks to the ongoing effort of the wider gaming developer community, can seemingly very accurately play multiple earlier consoles, computers and arcade boards with great I/O capabilities (Bluetooth, USB, HDMI, SNAC, component), which is super handy considering most modern televisions have zero analogue inputs nowadays.

Anyway, a YouTuber has managed to undercut the overpriced market recently by either acquiring or having manufactured basically a clone version of the very board that everyone else had been using, allowing him to have recently produce a much cheaper (currently sold out) alternative called the MiSTER Pi that’s been well received by reviewers and the community.

This morning he’d put up for preorder, starting at $150, setup that’s designed to look much more home TV shelf friendly, essentially paying homage to the classic PSone design, and also having out of the box compatibility with original PlayStation memory cards, controllers and very other accessories, while also still having all of the other emulation and I/O options as previously mentioned.

It’ll be out by Q3 and I’ve just preordered it. Very looking forward to primarily using it for N64 and PlayStation gaming on my OLED television, rather than having to mod my older hardware or buying an expensive upscaling device.

Did I spend 5 hours this morning farming reaper runs in P3R to get everyone in my party and all of my personas to Lv 99 on 1/30 for no other reason than for the vibe? Sure did. Did I try to rewind back to the afternoon of 1/31 after realizing that I missed the interaction I needed to max out my last social link? Mmhmm. Did I accidentally go back one slot too far and lose all of the progress from said earlier run only to realize that I hadn’t saved at any point since? Sure did. Am I just watching the ending on YouTube now because I can’t be assed to bother with doing that again? Absofuckinglutely.

I hate video games.

Welp I'm now working on the sixth character intro story in Octopussy Travelerussy, Tressa the merchant's daughter. I absolutely adore her lil spunky mannerisms, queen of capitalism and telling pirates to fuck off!

But I'm already feeling antsy about leaving party members behind, like I'm sorry for abandoning you :( I'm currently doing a rotation "strategy" to be fair to my lil characters and hopefully not fucking myself in the process. I drop the most experienced member off at the tavern every time, with the intention of leveling up the newbie so that we're all roughly equally experienced by the time I've completed the ensemble.

I'm also so worried about making the townspeople mad ddd, but I can't quite figure out the usefulness of Provoke either. Should I be provoking the shit out of townspeople or am I okay to be a pacifist? So far the only combats that have been remotely challenging have been the bosses so I'm not too worried about missing out on XP, at least for now. It's been remarkably non-grindy, this game.

You should be fine cycling through all the characters, that's why I did too. Probably would end up seriously overleveled otherwise.

And the point of Provoke is to either knock NPCs out of the way so you can access the path/house they were blocking, or to progress certain sidequests. I guess you can just use it to gain exp/money too but that's not really necessary. Out of the eight path actions Provoke is kind of the most useless honestly, you're not going to be using it a whole lot, especially when Olberic's Challenge does basically the same thing but better (you can just use him to fight which is more reliable than the beasts, and no reputation penalty if you lose). The main thing re Path Actions is you should try to investigate every NPC and also steal everything you can (or buy instead if that's the better option). The other four are a lot more situational, though of course getting two take a couple NPCs into battle can be a huge help.

Ahhh thank you king: I know it's pretty hard to permanently fuck up in games these days but I still have trust issues from 90s adventure games I guess. I'm looking forward to encountering situations where I get to tell NPCs to get the fuck out of my way! I wish that were possible in, like, FF1 or the OG Dragon Warrior: fond memories of being trapped by walking NPCs for minutes lol.

I play it with my Mom for sessions of like 60-90 minutes each and it's clear that we've got a LOT of gameplay ahead of us. The combat is just nuanced enough to make it interesting (the whole "break the shield" vulnerability element really keeps things fresh and gives everyone a chance to slay!) without becoming overbearingly complex.

Oh! One more question: one of my crew (Alfyn or Therion I think) has an available skill called "Mercy Kill" or "Mercy Strike" that has me scratching my head. If I am reading it right, it makes it so a hit that would've been fatal leaves the enemy with 1HP so they don't die. It sounds pointless! So pointless that I'm tempted to get it because it surely must have a very relevant use eventually dd. My trust issues flaring up again!

That's actually H'aanit, and basically it's a way to get monsters to as low HP as possible without killing them so you can capture them more easily. Having an attack/skill like that is fairly common in games that involve capturing creatures, in Pokémon you have False Swipe for example which does the same thing. But yeah it's pretty much completely useless aside from that, so you'll probably use it very little.

Finished Nier: Automata. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

9S is, and will always be, my emo boy.

I really struggled and kept dying until I got my head around the plug-in chips. So for anyone thinking of playing it you need to equip offensive heal and shockwave then combat is pretty much a breeze.

I've seen there's multiple endings but I got the one where both 9S and A2 kill one another, but their 'conscience' continues on into space.

Go make the other ending decision. There's a little more to come

I now all the companions and Neve, Taash, and Emmrich are the Trinity. Wish I could run with all three, what a weird decision to only have two party members.

I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 Black! The child that rage quit all those years ago feels somewhat relieved.

I’m going to attempt higher difficulties because it truly is a fun ass game. Watching a lot of YouTube about mechanics and fundamentals has helped me immensely.

(Still waiting on a bulge mod, but I do already have him in swim shorts so it’ll do)
