What's That Song?

2014

I heard a song a while ago that I was 100% sure was Camila Cabello but I’ve gone through all her songs and I can’t find it.

It was mid tempo and I’m sure the chorus heavily sampled a 90s song. I think it repurposed the entire chorus melody. And it was sort of moody, sensual Latin R&b type thing.

The receptionist was singing along so I assumed it was popular, doubt that helps.

Any ideas?

My first thought....

My mom is trying to find a song. She said she saw a live performance in which the singer released a bunch of girls into the audience. She said the singer has dark hair and is gay (not sure how she knows this). She also said he sings in a falsetto.
I'm cracking up because this totally sounds like something Mika would've done.

Is it sampling a song that goes a bit like 'bam bam bi da bam di dam'?

I was thinking of a recent(ish) song that samples/interpolates this (or the same song this was sampling)
Guess I'm just adding a new quest to this thread now..

Here are two of the most recent songs that have the same sample (Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam):

Hmm I immediately thought of Somebody by Natalie La Rose, but the song doesn't have a Latin vibe at all and it's an 80s song that the chorus samples...

I just had an advert come up on Youtube (before watching a Drag Race video), it played the whole song and the video was an animation done in an anime style with a black cat and lot's of 70s inspired colours and patterns. The song had female vocals and an indie-pop/hazy feel to it, similar to a band like Alvvays maybe?

Anyway, I Shazam-ed it cause I loved it, but having looked at the Shazam now it has given me the wrong song and I've no way of going back to find this advert. Does this ring a bell for anyone else?

Was it in english or spanish? My first thought was something by Becky G.

This is the most vague description but a song, probably pop & by a PJ fave, from the last few years using the word 'taciturn' in the lyrics?

I remember nothing else about it, just that this word stuck out to me given it's not one you hear in music a lot.

Someone posted this song here on Popjustice. I don't remember de thread it was posted in. It's by a curly haired girl and her name probably starts with a J. She hasn't released that many songs, I remember looking her up.
