What's That Song?

Long shot, but: song released (I think) between 1998-2000, I remember it as sampling or covering Hot Chocolate's You Sexy Thing (it's not the T-Shirt one) but since I found nothing on whosampled.com or wikipedia that might be off. It had a cartoon music video. I remember it from (probably) being on Live & Kicking's Hit Miss Or Maybe, though it may have been a similar item on Fully Booked or whatever replacement show was on on saturday morning at the time.
Had this vague memory of Phil Collins being there but already checked the october 9 episode from 1999 and no such luck, so I'm gonna guess at best one of his songs was another one reviewed that week (or my memory's pulling tricks).
Going by how vivid I remember it I also wouldn't rule out it being an episode where Steps appeared (since I used to tape those) but.. that's a whole lot of distracting info.

Any chance it was …

I see a reference to it in a post elsewhere from 2003 so I’m going off of relative time period/animated video/You Sexy Thing.

Well that's not at all what I remembered by now and I doubt I still watched any of those shows around 2003 but.. it's so close it almost has to be..?

Sorry, I should have been more specific: the post from 2003 was something to the effect of “I finally found it after all this time!” which led me to believe the video itself might have been a few years older.

Ah right. Could be. From reading/looking things up I'm still not completely sure what this was, like.. was it actually an official music video at some point or just some random home project that somehow... went viral before 2003???

I'm looking for a soundtrack song. By a one hit wonder. The song was dark and the album cover featured a corpse on a black background.

I’m on holiday in Menorca and just heard a song while I was in the pool. By the time I’d got out it had ended so I didn’t have time to Shazam it.

It was quite electro sounding, with a pulsating beat (sort of like Dancing On My Own) and was a male vocal (which reminded me of a less whiney version of the guy from The Similou) saying something like “driving home” or “riding hope” followed by some “yeah yeah yeah”s, with more emphasis on each “yeah” as they happened.

There was a lyric about television. A female vocal came in halfway through.

This hotel has been playing mostly what my husband calls “AI music” as it’s all kind of generic, faceless, tropical housey, sound-the-same stuff - but they have played some Tove Lo, Mabel and The Weeknd here too so it could well be a known commercial track.

Not sure but this came to mind first

It just came on again by the pool, but I was able to shazzam this time. It was Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole) by Arcade Fire (lolz at me hearing “driving home” or “riding hope”!).

I don’t know much by them and always thought they were a bit rocky but this is a bop.

Hello, I'm not looking for a specific song, but to know what genre some songs that I really like are, so I can search for songs of that genre.

What genre is this song, dance-pop? However, if I look for dance-pop songs they don't look much like this song. Maybe it's from a subgenre of dance-pop where a lot of importance is given to synthesizers. Singers like Sophie Ellis, September or Alphabeat, right?

I’m gonna say synth-pop or Hi-NRG, but I’m not the biggest expert so I will defer to others.

I had quite the flashback today when I heard this song playing on the radio. I tried to listen to the lyrics and memorize them but the only thing I could keep in my head was the chorus wich was definitely the strongest part of the song..

So it's a woman singing it and I'm not sure but I think I heard so, so proud.. so, so proud that's literally the only bit I can remember. It was a man singing the rest of the song if I'm not mistaken and the woman singing only the chorus, it was quite powerful and I'd say late 90's/early 00's and I definitely heard it before.

Thank you
