Will Young confirmed to star in The Vortex

  1. Following the recent appointment of Tavistock Wood as Will Young's acting representative, Will has landed another impressive acting role and will be treading the boards at Manchester's leading theatre company, The Royal Exchange Theatre in a brand new production of the classic, darkly humoured and biting Noel Coward play The Vortex, directed by Jo Combes.

Following Will's much acclaimed debut on the screen in Stephen Frears' Mrs Henderson Presents, Will's next challenge will be on the stage for a 13-week run playing the lead role of Nicky.

Will is no stranger to live stage performance, however this new and exciting acting role is something totally different.

Having always had a love for the theatre this seemed a natural step to take and he was keen to get involved in a small, independent production playing one of Noel Coward's greatest roles.

Will says: 'I'm really excited to be involved in this project. I'm sure it will be a fairly daunting experience initially but I want to be able to grow and learn more in this field so I¹ll continue to enjoy what I do and also offer something new to my fans.'

The Vortex will open at Manchester's Royal Exchange in December which will follow on from his Keep On Live tour which kicks off in Cardiff on September 12th and runs until October 2nd.

Congratulations Will. What a fantastic move for him.

  2. Well he doesn't take the easy route does he! I could do with a shopping trip in Manchester in the New Year, seems like a good excuse anyway!

  3. I am so pleased that Will has got this role which is what he was hoping for. He is a very talented young man and it looks as though he is branching out into other areas of the entertainment industry. Very wise, considering the state of the music industry at the moment.

The only thing is that I won't be able to go as it is too far for me.

  4. I am really looking forward to this. he has really put himself in the firing line, the journalists will eat him alive if he does not pull this off, he certainly doesnt take the easy route.

  5. The Royal Exchange Theatre is one of THE most gorgeous theatres in the world, in my humble opinion. I am not a huge Will fan but I love Coward's plays so I think this would be a great event. Really looking forward to it!

  6. He doesn't take the easy road does he.   I'm sure he'll do fantastically though, the director said he did "a stunning audition"... he must have really impressed them.
I don't think he'd do it if he didn't think he could cope with it - it's very exciting.

  7. Good. Hopefully he will turn to acting full time and not release any more of his tedious middle of the road music.

  8. Middle of the road? Have you heard Keep On?

  9. Is there another, final, single from Keep On or is that it for this album?

  10. Think that's it for this album from what he said in a recent interview. Shame, I'd have loved Think About It or All I Want as a single release, plus a couple of new B-sides.
