X Factor forum

I know I'm alone in this but I really don't like this X-Factor forum.

Before everything was in one place and easy to follow. Now we have numerous threads which will all inevitably be going over the same topics.

If you want to talk about 1 of Cher's perfomances should it be done in the Cher thread or the Live Show thread? Unfortunately what will actually happen is that all discussions will be diluted.

Christ, going through the 'unread posts' page is a pain in the ass on my phone now with all of these new threads.

The original X Factor thread was getting absolutely ridiculous with about 25 conversations happening simultaneously and posters quoting quotes of quotes to reply or agree with a certain point. Mind you, I have noticed that exactly the same thing has already started to happen in the new threads. It is madness! And 90% unecessary.

Agreed. You'd post an answer to a question, and two pages later someone would ask the same question again because they "couldn't be bothered to trawl through all the pages". It's much better this way.

I love it! It's so exciting.

I guess most X Factor fans do. To others it is a bit like trying to read your twitter feed on a saturday night.

I think there needs to be a specific moderator for it, to be honest, like there is with Random Thoughts. It's grown in size at such a rapid rate, I don't think the current moderators will be able to deal with it on top of what they already have (and it's already pretty clear it'll need a lot of modding).

Maybe when an act gets knocked out we close their thread after a few days and all discussions of that act move into 'contestants of x past' for example?

Contestants of X Past is more like people from Series 1/2/3 etc.

Well some threads on some acts have fallen to the bottom anyway so im sure things will even out in a few days (and then splurge again over the weekend)

I quite like having a lot of info to seek out and once there are songs and performances to critique it'll seem more valid to have one thread for each act, i hope. if we comment pros and cons on every artist in just one thread like before then nothing really gets heard.

Just dont take away the forum now its here!

I had no problem 'hearing' everything before and surely stuff is far more likely to get overlooked or missed now that we have 24 extra threads to search through.

I probably posted on the old thread more than anybody else (In fact during some epidodes I seemd to be talking to myself) and that took up enough time. Now I'm being forced to wade loads of completely unnecessary extra threads in order to keep up. How am I supposed to find time to this as well as watching, Strictly, The Apprentice, Modern Family, Rupaul's Drag Race, Downton Abbey, America's Next Top Model, Australia's Next Top Model and the Commonwealth Games????

I must admit i was off the forum for all of one day and came back and it was a sea of yellow 'new' signs and i thought eeek what have i done asking for this forum. (but the same goes for the pop and justice section the 'new' sings extended over 3 pages due to new pink singles and tracklists for a lot of albums but i soon caught up)

But, just look at the 'debate' around Cher and gamu, matters of racism and deportation discussed at length about contestants one of which isn't even in the show anymore. I think its best kept in their respective threads, they're hard to keep up with sometimes even now and would be ten times worse amongst posts of people declaring their love for john adeleye etc.

I don't know if you use the 'mark as read' button baby Clyde? but i think it helps to click on the threads your keen on, then hit that button and start again from there once all the flashing yellow has gone. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately I don't know what you're talking about. What flashing yellow??? And anyway I'm keen on them all. It's The X Factor much as I hate every second of the ridiculous show I'm officially obsessed and my life is not my own now until Christmas.

At least you're honest about it, a lot of people I know claim to have nothing to do with it, yet still seem to know all about it.

As for the plethora of threads, I think the novelty will wear off a in a day or two, it's already quietened down. Saturdays/Sundays will be mental, but that's exactly why separate threads will be useful. It's hard to dissect 12 (or 13, or 16) acts, 2 special guests, a group performance, the bottom two/eviction AND the judges all at the same time in one thread. The new system is probably the lesser of the evils.
